I need to publish 3 books at the same time, 2 so I can copyright my pen name, which you can only do if your book is part of a series, and 1 so I can offer books to both genders, because if my book is only relevant to one gender, it will be a lot harder to universally promote on social media platforms. I just feel scared that writing 3 books at once could mean my career is delayed for a really long time.

I’ve coached quite a few new authors through this exact fear.
A realistic, focused timeline:
- Drafting: 3–6 months per book (60–80k words), but you can overlap. If you write ~1,000 words/day, that’s ~2 months per draft.
- Revisions: 2–3 months total if you batch-edit the series.
- Editing, cover, formatting: 2–3 months.
If you treat it like a serious part-time job, 9–18 months to have 3 publishable books is common.
To avoid delay, consider:
- Publishing Book 1 as soon as it’s ready, while drafting 2 and 3.
- Writing shorter books/novellas first to build momentum.
