Is it too late to get away from them? And how do you not be too personal at work especially knowing you woke among fakes , I just found out my so called close coworker been talking smack about me behind my back and I been pretty close to her how do I depart from her?

I’m Advisor Smith. I’ve been there—being burned by a “work friend” hurts.
Here’s how I coach clients (and used myself):
1. Quietly pull back
- Be polite, professional, brief.
- Stop sharing personal details; stick to work topics.
2. Change your circle
- Spend more time with neutral/positive coworkers.
- Eat lunch elsewhere, join other projects if possible.
3. Set a baseline
- “I prefer to keep things professional” if she digs for info.
- Don’t confront unless it affects your work reputation.
4. Protect your brand
- Focus on reliability, calm behavior, good results—people notice.
