As a child, what did you know about your parents’ (or guardians’) job or career?

My mom: I knew she worked in a jail and dealt with bad guys. I hated when she worked the night shift. I would literally cry.

My dad: His job confused me and I didn’t really know how to explain it when other kids asked. I would just tell them he worked with computers and made maps. I later found out that he was an IT manager. 😂

I knew that my mom was a dental assistant before she married my dad. After that, she was a housewife and was the one who cared for my sister and me. She was also one of the lunch ladies at my school.

My dad was a master machinist. He was the lead man of the experimental machine lab for a major aerospace manufacture and was involved in all the space program projects from Mercury through the Space Shuttle.
He used to take us to company open houses once a year. And he brought me a few things like patches, stickers, photos, and experimental heat shield tiles that they were working on.

That was fairly straightforward: They were both teachers, so they had an office at home and thousands of textbooks, political magazines, stacks of test assignments, etc.

I knew practically everything about my parents job. They managed a restaurant so my father was the chef and my mother managed the administrative part as well as take care of serving customers. And we lived above the restaurant so their place of work was basically my home and i would always snuck downstairs and watch them work and be with them somehow.

I always knew my dad was a civil engineer with a firm he co-founded abroad, and I hated how often he wasn't home for weeks. I found out later that my mom was actually a kindergarten teacher, since she had become a housewife after having children.

My parents were farmers. They worked really hard. We kinda just grew up 😂 very simple life
