How do you handle lazy coworkers while you’re stuck doing all the work?

Perfect example today it’s raining heavy and I’m told to work out in the rain. While I’m doing my job another coworker pulls up, hangs out for a bit then leaves. If I don’t do my job then my boss is on my ass. I went to another area and there’s another guy just hanging out nice and dry in his truck.

Unfortunately, that happens. You just do what you are supposed to do and not worry about slackers.

A few things that helped me:

1. Document, don’t complain. Quietly note dates, times, tasks, and who’s present. Emotion-free facts have power.
2. Clarify expectations. Ask your boss: “Can you clarify who’s responsible for X when it’s raining? I want to be sure I’m doing my part, not everyone’s.”
3. Set boundaries. Do your job well, but stop volunteering for others’ work.
4. Pick your battles. If the culture rewards laziness, start planning an exit. Long term, that environment burns out good workers.

I once put in 💩 work let them to do so let my boss know what was happening. Getting them fired.

I’ve tried going over my boss’s head and going to the higher ups about one coworker but they hired him full time anyway

Get on their ass about it or tell the boss. If that doesn't work, do just as much work as they are!!

Unfortunately I don’t know what the boss told them to do. Maybe go get lost. And I’m the one on light duty too right now. I had something dropped on my head last week at work and it made a big gash on my head. Had to go to ER to get stitched up.
