I’m starting to lose my temper with disrespectful coworkers. The assistant supervisor gave me specific orders on the work he wanted done today. These guys were ignoring my orders that I was given and doing what they want. Then they’re yelling at me for trying to make sure work got done right. The one I had it out with months ago. He’s always giving someone an attitude.

I’ve been in similar situations on project teams. A few steps that usually help:
1. Clarify authority
Calmly tell the assistant supervisor: “You assigned me X. Others are ignoring it and yelling at me. How do you want me to handle this?” Get explicit backing or a process.
2. Use calm, firm language
To coworkers: “These are the instructions from [supervisor]. Let’s follow them. If you disagree, let’s check with him/her.”
3. Document incidents
Dates, what was said, witnesses. If it continues, bring it to management or HR.
4. Protect your composure
Don’t yell back; step away briefly if needed. Your calmness preserves your credibility.
