There are 2 kinds of people who don't have money, the ones who work hard, very hard, but don't give any thought to making sure they are working hard on the right thing, and the ones who have the right thing right in front of them but don't work hard at it. You can work 3 jobs 7 days a week, but if you're not working at the right thing, you're still going to end up not being able to afford even the basics. You need some combination of intelligence, skills, education, training, experience, and connections to make good decisions and make good money, and most of those you can get on your own. And once you have found it, you need to work hard at it.
I think it's definitely a combination of working hard and having good luck. So I sort of agree with the quote, but I think many rich people worked hard to get where they are but had a lot of luck to go along with their hard work.
And luck always support hardworking human...
Yes and no. First it depends on your definition of rich. To me, "rich" STARTS at a net worth of 1.2 million. And under that definition most Americans COULD qualify with enough time, hard work, and commited investing. By most metrics i straddle the line of, "rich". But i'm very blue collar. I've been poor before, and i never want to go back i to that. But i worked hard and invested to get to wear i'm at. I only started hitting 6 figure returns this year really.
To cross the lines of tens of millions, hundreds of millions, or even a billionaire, Elon is right. You cannot get to there just through hard work.
I think it’s a false equivalence in some ways.
Just because bricklaying won’t make you rich and it’s hard work, doesn’t mean other ventures won’t.
Either way it will require hard work.
The key is to invest that hard work down the right path.
Basically working hard to achieve a specific plan that yields success.

I agree 110%
if it was the other way around then third world countries wouldn't exist for the fact that the average person in a third world country works a lot harder than the average person in a first world country just to get a few breadcrumbs of what the average person in the first world country has.
My later father frequently used the Arnold Palmer quote: The harder I train, the luckier I get.
Working hard is a large part of most people getting rich. No, working hard alone is not sufficient to get rich.
It can make you rich but doesn't guarantee it. Depends on many other things so yes I generally agree, should just be a bit more nuanced.
Nice to know maam you're agree with me ☺️
A lot of people are born with diamond encrusted spoons in their mouth so don't have to do much at all to live the good life.

Not hardworking alone. Musk works very hard.
One of the ways to get rich is to employ people to earn money for you.
That’s correct.
work hard, work smart. Invest smart. Make good life decisions… also scrafice first… then one can do okay.
No. In order to become financially rich you you must put in effort to make money and that is through consistency of putting in long hours and hard work and sacrifice.
Nobody becomes rich by not putting in consistent effort.
True! But, you COULD say that it's the right KIND of hard work!!
yes,, it takes hard work but it also takes some luck and having a good idea.
You'll never get rich working for someone else.
Hard work can make one financially secure and well off but the number one thing hard work does is it overcomes many obstacles
No. Some of us work hard and never get rich. Some people barely work and get rich.
It doesn’t by itself, but Mark Zuckerberg worked really hard
I don’t know that much about Elon, but I would bet he put in long hours building his businesses in the beginning. I think what he meant was not that hard work isn’t necessary, but that it’s not enough by itself.
It's the truth unfortunately. The system is clearly rigged and anyone who can't see that just isn't paying attention
Sure do. See:Gig economy.
Yeah
