Songs I Like, By Genres I Don't Like

I am a metal head, which means 90% of the music I like is rock or metal.

But like a lot of people, there are exceptions. (The other 10%)

POP

Cheerleader by Omi (it's adorable)

I'm in love with a monster by 5th Harmony (I can relate and it's catchy)

Here by Alessia Cara (it's relatable and catchy)

Unsteady by X Ambassador (cover by Tyler Kidd) (it's catchy to me, relatable and something I can listen to 20394+ times)

A lot of P!nk songs

Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson FT Bruno Mars (it's catchy and it's uplifting)

Kill my boyfriend by Natlia Kills (it's funny and catch)

RAP

Grind on me by pretty ricky

Or nah by the weeknd

(they both turn me on XD )

COUNTRY

Smile by Uncle Kracker (it's really cute and sweet)

What hurts the most by the rascal flats (it makes me cry and I relate to it very hard)

Concrete Angel by Martina McBride (It's so fucking sad, I cry so hard everytime)

What genre do you usually listen to, and what songs are your exceptions?

What Guys Said 15

  • I listen to most everything but pop and country (and mainstream rap).(Metal Rock, blues, underground rap mostly) However I really like the song Emperors New Clothes by Panick at the Disco despite hating emo/pop music:

  • I typically call these guilty pleasures, haha. I listen to nothing but metal usually. But my guilty pleasure is definitely some Phil Collins and Genesis. Love his killer drums and for some unknown reason I like his singing.

  • I'm not a hip hop fan, but I enjoy some Kendrick Lamar.

This is a more house-esque song (a genre that normally doesn't speak to me at all) which I do like:

Besides that: this is not precisely what you asked for, but I usually can't stand screaming in music (I do enjoy some metal, but as a post-rock fan that mostly ends up being post-metal without vocals). That being said, though, I love this song:

  • I tend to like epic music, and freespirit indie. And ska. If there is one song I would call a guilty pleasure, it'd be this one:

So corny, so crude, so over-the-top, but it... works!

  • If you're such a metalhead tell me what you listen to.

I am a metalhead, and I've listened to rock and its various subgenres, along with many 80s artists in other genres for my whole life.

I do like some Twenty One Pilots though:

    • Well as I don't need to prove anything to you I listen to a variety such as Nirvana, tool, seethe, slipknot, a7x, mushroomhead, devil you know, system of a down, five finger death punch and a lot more rock/metal bands

    • Show All
    • Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Venom, Pantera, Judas Priest. (I think those are all considered 80s thrash)

    • Cool, cool. Pantera is kinda thrash, Judas Priest is mainly just classic heavy metal.

  • rock/metal/grunge/punk, as you know. Some exceptions rarely come for me, but if they were from a genre in particular they'd be from ska punk, jazz or new wave.

  • I usually listen to Death metal, Black metal, Classical, and Opera. My exceptions are none. There are songs I like in other genres but they are short lived.

Shake it off - Taylor Swift
    Halo - Jasmine Thompson

The exception would be bands I always like that don't fit in the genres I typically listen to:
Pretty much any Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd
