I'm starting a series on my personal favorite subjects in chronological order as far as I can remember. I'll be covering Mythology, Religions, Games, Music, Movies, Novels, Comics, Coding and Sports mostly. So please bear with me, this is pretty BIG for me ;).

So let us begin, pay attention children, today I'll be covering Games.

I was born on June 1st of the year 1994, the Lion King came out that year (yeah i'm pretty proud of that one), born in the little french town of Levallois Perret (pronounced Levalloa Peyrray). I know for a fact that I didn't have any gaming console before my 5th year.... maybe 6th.

My first video game console was a GameBoy Color ;) it was a purple one (personal pride I still have it and my sister plays Super Mario World from time to time).

I don't remember opening the box containing it, I solely remember the fond memories of playing Pokemon Blue with Blastoise on the cover of the cartridge. Of course I knew nothing of it's universe and the strategy behind the battles, but I know that it was this game that started my gaming passion.

Not long after I had my first "living room" console : the PlayStation 1. First time I laid my eyes upon 3D graphics : Tekken 3, Harry Potter 1 and 2, Vanishing Point, Coolboarders 2001, C12 The Final Resistance, Spyro.... so many great memories there. Spent weeks mastering every character in Tekken 3 and fighting the horrible bosses in Harry Potter.

Looking back the controls weren't all that great, it wasn't very diverse (mostly the same game mechanics for the entire game but I was 6 to 10 so didn't think too much about it.

Then came the PS2..... biggest console in history in my mind. God of War, God of War 2, Mortal Kombat, Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 2, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Ace Combat 4, Enter The Matrix....

At this point i had 60+ games on PS1 and around 20 games on the PS2 and I was about to enter High School (i was 15) and the parents bought a laptop that was for the time awesome. I discovered Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2..... My god those graphics and cinematics and mostly STEAM !

I then had a Wii, but no major games there... besides Super Smash Bros and Wii Sports.

I had a PS3 but I didn't play with it as much as I would have wanted so it didn't really mark me as much, I mostly played the Assassin's Creed series from the 1 to the Revelations.

Favorite Subjects (Part 1)

Never before had I been invested so much into the story, lore and characters than with Assassin's Creed 2 when I discovered Ezio Auditore Da Firenze... Ubisoft (who are french) thank you for that.

Finally entering my college years I got my own laptop for working purposes but I discovered so many different great games and series most notably Mass Effect (thank you my baby for that). I have not stopped and I probably never will, games are beautiful storytelling tools, hell some games made me cry more than movies (like the Witcher 3) and made me spend hours of my life (like Skyrim) still discovering things I didn't know about it.

Though it pains me to see today that video games are being blamed for most of society's problems with youth. In the 50s and 60s it was Rock music with Elvis, then it was the problem with the hippy movement, in the 80s it was action movies with Stallone and Schwarzenegger.... Today it's video games : why does society need a scapegoat at ever generation?

Seeing the evolution of gaming makes me feel happy to see how games have changed, from Tetris to games like Horizon Zero Dawn, Skyrim, Fallout, Witcher 3 or Detroit : Become Human it keeps me guessing where it will take us next?
