Darling In the Franxx - Kiss of Death by Mika Nakashima x Hyde
This is one of my favorite animes and one of the two that ultimately got me back into them. The only thing I have against it is the derailment of what the whole series built up from the first fifteen episodes. If you like a fairly well done coming into adulthood story of a group of misfits using bizarre dual pilot mechas and don’t mind a bit of fan service, it might be for you.
Another mytake of mine featured an English version by Amanda Lee.
Dirty Pair Flash – Loving Thrills by Rica Matsumoto
Another one of my favorite animes and this one is the only anime I have the complete dvd boxset of. Dirty Pair Flash is a remake of an older series featuring a pair of women with completely different personalities- Kei is a boisterous tomboy while Yuri is a whiny girly girl – it’s hilariously rendered in the English dub especially. This series has three openings in total, each one for a respective act. My favorite, Act 2 takes place on World's World, a planet theme park based on 20th C. Tokyo.
Rosario Vampire – Discotheque by Nana Mizuki
Rosario Vampire – Dancing in the Velvet Moon by Nana Mizuki
Another one of my favorite animes, the story revolves around Tsukune Aono, a boy who inadvertently enrolls in a boarding school for monsters. He quickly befriends Moka Akashiya, a vampire who soon develops an obsession with his blood, and later meets other monster girls who soon take a romantic liking to him. It’s rather over the top but is worth the watch if you like an action comedy with a bit of romance.
Overlord – Voracity by Myth and Roid
The third anime I watched after getting back into them, Overlord was the first Isekai or other world anime I watched. The final hour of the popular virtual reality game Yggdrasil has come. However, Momonga, a powerful wizard and master of the dark guild Ainz Ooal Gown, decides to spend his last few moments in the game as the servers begin to shut down. To his surprise, despite the clock having struck midnight, Momonga is still fully conscious as his character and, moreover, the non-player characters appear to have developed personalities of their own! It’s a dark fantasy featuring violence, adventure, comedy and plenty of craziness.
Spice and Wolf - Tabi No Tochuu
In a Medieval Europe inspired world, Kraft Lawrence, a traveling merchant goes through the town of Pasloe and ends up meeting their resident harvest deity, Holo. They strike a bargain where he promises to take her back to her homeland in the north while she will become his business partner. Their adventure through the countryside in search of economic opportunities, starts to bud into something unexpected for both of them. The unfortunate thing is the series lacks the a third season to finish off the story. Still, if you like a tale of cleaver dealings, witty dialogue and a fantasy without much magic, it might be something for you.
That's it for now.
