I can't get over it because I used to think Ariel was hot as a kid and I always wanted to see a real live version of her. But this isn't what I had in mind.
If you think that the idea of Disney using a black girl instead of a white girl is a bad idea, believe it or not but deep down you are racist.
Disney is trying to make movies and shows more diverse because the world is not all about white people their are other ethnic backgrounds.
Never knew that they are going to play a real life of this movie. I don't mind who plays Ariel.
I hear the next Black Panther will feature a white actor. But people need to get over it.

Not sure, but the original story was kinda gruesome and Disney changed a lot of it for the cartoon. She was probably white but I can’t say if she had red hair.

Get over what? I'm not gonna see it, so they could cast a dead cow for all I care. I'll never give Disney another penny ever again, but that has little to do with who they cast for their next remake.
I think its fine, its not like we can expect a black character to become well liked if we make new characters. We have to make sure whites popularise it first so they have a chance.
It is a testament to the amazing comfort and luxury people have to get upset over this at all.

Ariel is 16. Halle Bailey looks like she 26 so she shouldn't have the part. If Disney wants a black girl they should find one that looks 16.

The difference is that their characters were written to represent specific cultures, were they not? You look at black panther and you see the African roots in his character from his clothes to his accent. Where do you see that in Ariel’s character?
