An Inspired Poem: Please

SnowedIn

The poem below was inspired by a friend who is also a brilliant writer. They gave me voice and I'm grateful.

An Inspired Poem: Please

Have you ever yearned for release?
Needed it badly?
No, not want – NEED.
The minutes on the clock a marching army.
Of ache
And loss
And hope.

Have you?

You cannot go.
You cannot come.
You’re stuck.
Sandwiched between two layers of fur.
Imprisoned by an iron rod.

Free.
Yet at the mercy.
You agreed.
Non-existent bonds.
Tight.
Unyielding.
Please.

No word.
Where?
When?
Please.

The army never invades.
Only marches.
When?
Does pressure fade?
How does 1,000 miles an hour make one day so slow?

The tiger watches me.
So does the panther.
Yes! Just like them.
Pent up.
Coiled springs.
Waiting.
Waiting to be unleashed.
To pounce.

What don’t you understand about need?
What if…
What if…
What can I say?
Ask?
Do?

Please?
