Polychrome, the Rainbow's Daughter!
... okay, she wasn't actually in the movie, but she does show up in the original book series.
Of the "original" companions, I'll definitely say the Cowardly Lion is my favourite... though he's better in the book than he is in the movie. ^_^ Actually, all the characters are better in the book than in the movie... apart from the Scarecrow, who's about the same. (And the Wicked Witch of the West, who's the only character that's better in the movie, but she wasn't on the list.)

The tinman, not having a heart was the most relatable to me as a child. It made sense why people could just be so cold and mean. Not that I really dealt with many cold or mean people personally but where i grew up there was a lot of crime and violence even us kids would hear about.
I don't know it's been years since I've seen that. I would go with Dorthy probably
This adorable lion. xD

I saw the play version over the weekend and loved the Lion. I was a little biased i guess because the man that played the Lion also played in a production of the Producers and I loved him in both. The actor's gestures, his facial expressions and the overall silliness of his movements are what really sealed the deal.
Scarecrow seemed to be Dorothy's favorite character
