Because blonde is associated with fair maidens. Light equals good. Dark (black) equals evil. Red haired children are devil's child. (That's what they thought anyway)

The thing is there are no witches, when Shakespeare wrote about them in Macbeth most people did not believe in them.

It's like this throughout a lot of mythology and genres. Black and red are often "the bad guys". Why are sith lightsabers red, Lucas could have made red good and blue evil.

I suspect it originates with blood and darkness. We would have feared the dark and seen blood as a warning.

Darker hair just seems more evil rather than blonde hair and the only time I can see blonde as evil is if you find the head cheerleader of a highschool and she's a mean blonde, that's as far as it goes with this, blonde is just not a very evil look...
As for the orange hair it is because of the saying that goes that ginger don't have a heart and soul so that's why it's incorporated into them...

Not really. Maybe I don't think so because I'm a blackhead myself. But it would be cool with that look deceive things. Anyway, the snow queens in both Narnia and a Danish fairy tale were evil. You could still tell they were evil. They looked like this:
      i.pinimg.com/.../...7eab96c7183447a6c59efe3914.jpg

In old Scandinavia cold was often associated with evil too. More than darkness in some places. Having a cold heart was the opposite of having a warm heart. Snow was cold and could kill, therefor it was evil. Mostly white people lived in Scandinavia.

The white witch seems way more evil here than the little boy with the dark hair:

So in my opinion white blonde people can also look as evil as dark people.

Because black hair and eyes are associated with evilish, satin etc..
Angels are associated with blond or beown hair and blue ir green eyes..

Lots of men like bad girls, satanic girls since they claim wanting to have sex with that instead of an angel.

I don't think hair and eye colors or any other physical features should be associated with being satanic or wicked. That would be racial prejudices.

No.. Skin is racial.. Hair and eyes aren't

Yes, they're. Facial features, hair and eye color also counts. This woman for instance has light-skin, blue eyes and medium blonde hair - like some Europeans. She's born that way. But many would say she still looks more African than North-European because of her facial features.
      i.huffpost.com/.../s-DESTINYBIRDSONG-large640.jpg

It's more common for Asians and Africans to have black hair than Scandinavians too. There aren't many Asians and Africans with natural blonde or orange hair. So yes, hair and eye color is as racial as the skin tone. So is facial features.

I never really noticed... I practice witchcraft myself and I have auburn hair... But I think red hair is more unique and stands out, while black gives that mystery... And that what they expect from witches in media

Witchcraft was nothing but outing the odd, rebellious one out. People get scarred of things they don't know about. In western regions black & red are a rarity in hair colours. Women with those hair must have been rare in ancient times. So people got scared and associated them with witchcraft. The mythologies couldn't help but relate red with fire and black with darkness. And people kept following the stereotypes for a long time.

    Caused from 2 things

Woman with red hair got burned in the past because the people believed they are bonded with the devil or something...

The other is... only blonde hair is good at far right surpreme (which represent the system), so all other colours are bad or evil

Dark hair because dark is mysterious and mysterious can be evil
Red hair because gingers have no soul and are totally evil so speaketh the Cartman
It doesn't only apply to witches in movies and tv shows
Not so often the blondes are the antagonists particularly not female blondes

I've heard gingers can see in your soul and are witches and demons. Also found out Lilith was a redhead so I get the stories I've heard over the years. And honestly ginger witches usually are cuter so maybe that's why as well or to further portray that idea gingers are evil and bizzare

The concept of witches as we know them originates from Central/Northern European paganism, I think. And in those areas people with black and red hair are more rare than other colours. So I guess the portrayal is supposed to make them appear more mysterious, and exotic.

Redheads have been frequently used as an evil scapegoat in films for whatever reason.

raven-haired is more symbolism than anything, representing dark intentions.

Dark things are considered scary and mysterious, because you can't see in the dark. Therefore witchcraft is traditionally associated with black.

And gingers have no soul of course

There was a time when people dressed like that and with such hair color were burned alive because people really taught they were witches or something alike.

So like much movies/series, they are based on old myths ;)

I can only really say what I know from a lot of Romanian folklore, wherein having orange hair was a sign that you had an attunement to evil forces like witchcraft or vampirism.

It's just silly cliches, and actually portraying dark people as the villain and white blonde people as the hero is dumb racial stereotypes.

What are you even on about? This question is about hair colour not skin colour.

Both facial features, hair, eye and skin color are typically characteristics. It's more common for white people to be blonde for example, but for Asians, Africans, Spaniards, Hispanic/Latino and Mediterranean to have black hair.

Your question wasn't about skin colour, it was about hair colour

It's more common for some groups to have certain hair colors than others.

Anyway, you didn't answer my question on why witches in movies are portrayed with certain hair colors.

@Deydey12345 Meh, sexy isn't restrictive to hair colour. If anything, it's red that would get called most sexy... most everything really.
