Does watching anime cause depression?

Depends on what you watch. In anime, there's a wide variety of stuff you can watch; you can get stuff from a zombie apocalypse with jiggle physics, to soda cans that orgasm when you try to suck from it, to even the Pokémon anime (and yes, Pokémon is an anime. Fight me).

If there's some really depressing crap that you can relate to, then it can really hit home. If you see a character you really loved die, you can fall into a depressive cycle (as trivial as that may seem, it can and has happened before).

It really depends on what you watch and what reaction you have to those certain events in an anime.

The only way I could see Anime causing it is if some edgy teen saw someone like Sasuke for example and wanted to have a depressing background like him when in reality he lives in a middle class household with a caring and kind family. On the other end of the spectrum I could suspect that it could maybe due to the unrealistic standards in Anime and how people are able to conquerer them while in real life we do nothing to that or as trivial. So someone could think they're doing nothing and see no purpose potentially. Those are my two theories, but I can't realistically see it causing it.

I feel is not like that. Feels more like shy, introverted people with tendency to suffer depression do tend to like anime. But they already are like that before watching anime. But is just my opinion, I haven't made or read any study, so probably I'm so wrong.

No. Depression is why some of us watch anime, not the other way around. I like watching anime because it has the fictional world, romance, and magic that I wish existed in real life. I use it as a form of escape from reality.

That’s very flawed, considering that athletes partake in extensive exercise which years muscles which is where the high protein diet comes into play. To rebuild those torn muscles.
