Lolz I watch Lucifer too. One time my wife came in the room and pointed out how incredibly unlikely it is that every single cop at a police station would be one of the Pretty People, even in Los Angeles.
So when I read this question, I tried to think of shows I've been really into where the characters aren't played by beautiful people. The Wire came to mind. Also, Peaky Blinders. Maybe Vikings, although I'd trip over my own dick racing to bang Lagertha.

What are you talking about dennis is the golden god, he is perfection
Why do you think they cast specific individuals for certain roles? To appeal to the populace that has been conditioned to think that only certain features on various people are attractive.
And honestly, no. I watch shows because I find them appealing. I think the only cute one is the one with the glasses. I also tried watching Lucifer but I couldn't stand his accent.
In my opinion yes I will watch it, but you know in tv or any series the looks ALWAYS matter (sadly) but the hotter you look, the more people will watch the movie or the series (on Netflix for example) being beautiful as an actor or hot itâs a bonus nowadays (even this gives young people a bad image for the world and people and their standards)

It wouldn't be as appealing, but I would still watch it. Love Lucifer by the way.
I do on a regular basis. Sitcoms should be included because they often do have a disproportionately "attractive" cast if it's not centered around a standup comedian. How I Met Your Mother, Friends, Two and a Half Men, Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place, Scrubs, etc. are all examples of this (and there are probably some modern ones, but I stopped watching sitcoms in 2011 other than Last Man Standing so my frame of reference is a little dated).
Even when it's a vehicle for a standup comedian they often fill out the cast with a suspicious number of "attractive" people. Most guys don't have three hot daughters, a handsome son, and another daughter that will probably grow up to be hot like Cliff Huxtable did. In real life all of the kids of a family are either average looking or there's a hot one with average siblings. Seinfeld had Jerry, George, and Kramer, none of whom are conventionally attractive, but it also had Elaine and all of those guys dated much more attractive women than you might expect a trio like that to get in real life.
I use to watch How I Met Your Mother and, while everyone I know had one or two characters they fawned over, I didn't think any of them were much to look at. Blue Bloods doesn't have a single cast member I consider attractive. Neither did The Mentalist, Frasier (other than some of Frasier's girlfriends, but they rarely stayed around for more than a few episodes), Raising Hope, Criminal Minds (other than some one shot characters specific to a single episode), or Chicago PD.
Conversely, I had fantasies about every cast member of Friends other than Ross and Phoebe (and yes, that includes Gunther), but no matter how attractive I thought most of the cast was I never watched more than one or two episodes per season, vainly hoping for decent character development, because frankly I found everyone on that show to be annoying.I find it annoying
I prefer real looking people who can act and have to act bc they can't rely on their hotness to carry them through the bland parts
The best actors are finny looking of not ugly. Certainly not conventionally hot.
I immediately expect the acting to suck when the cast is conventionally attractive
I enjoy watching Lucifer.. I recognize the cast is meant to be hot but I think they all look a bit quirky - they just have a lot of make up
I think they were chosen for the fact they all look kind of rag-tag and Chloe looks like half vampire/ I donât think that was an accident
Her daughter in my opinion is theist evenly aesthetically pleasing character
In any case I donât have any favorite actors who are hot. They canât help but fall back on it and it disrupts their acting effortsHonestly there's one show I'm currently watching where I'm having a hard keeping up coz the main guy is more than handsome (he's the reason why I wanted to watch this show), but the main girl he's supposed to be all lovey dovey with is just way off his level. She looks like she has no eyelashes and that's making her look sick, I struggle watching her scenes.
In this case the story line isn't great either but I remember when I was younger and Teen Wolf was starting to air, I had to stop watching because even though I loved all characters and the storyline, Tyler Posey's chin just used used to make me so uncomfortable...Very good question. Yes I would if it was well written. In fact I haven't seen a really good looking character in a long time.
Lucifer is my favorite show. It is exceptionally well written. The cast has been selected very carefully.
Good looking or not, the Lucifer character has been selected so well and acts so well in his role that he fits right in. So, he kind of really resembles a devil, a charming one, and that being said, like Chloe, I can't decide to crush or not to crush. But I love how the character has been developed. And everytime I watch the show it gives me cause to think: Wow! Someone finally decided to really use their brain to write the script and created something well thought out and very original instead of the usual crappy cliches. I really enjoy it.Would depend on the show in question, but no probably not. I think the idea of making fat or otherwise unattractive people into main characters (depending, again, on the character in question, as sometimes that's okay) is a dicey thing-- it has to be done right. If it's done in a way that pushes a false narrative that being fat/obese is like normal or okay or attractive or something, then that's stupid. If it's done in a realistic way that takes most-people-not-finding-them-attractive into account in the show, then that's fine.
They're out there, a simple google search will provide you with hundreds of them...
Yeah, I think there are a lot of shows that use average looking people and I like them, they feel more realistic, from what I can remember off the bat: Shameless, Fear the Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Orange is the New Black, even Game of Thrones actually, yes there are some very attractive characters and there are those average looking ones - just like in real life.
Of course you could, but realistically every show that I've watched that has had average or ugly people on it as labeled by the show itself, has been a comedy, which speaks to your point about it being okay in comedy but generally no where else. I think most are hard pressed to think of a show where they didn't find one of the leads attractive and yet they watched for seasons at a time. We've grown accustomed due to specific casting which is out of our hands, to want attractive leads and like the friend can be average/ugly. Basically every tv show and movie is set up that way or they just flat out cast all attractive characters.
Yes, i watch stuff like family guy no ones attractive in that. If a tv programs only bringing viewers in by having a good looking cast obviously the writers aren't to good. Some of the best TV programmes right now have nothing to do with hiw sexy the cast is
Sadly in the Entertainment Industry especially TV & Movies Beauty is what keeps the Lights On...
If the Writing and Talent is there then yes I would still watch it. But TV & Movies are my escape from Reality so having Sexy People to stare at doesn't hurt especially when their acting isn't that great (I'll say he sycks as an Actor but fun to look at so it's excusable).Name a great show that has absolutely no attractive people and I'll tell you. I can't name one. Even if you find one. Are you saying none of them are models? Or none of them are even remotely attractive? Because there are plenty of good shows where no one was a model, but were attractive people.
Yeah, if the characters were written well, I'd watch it if it was just regular people. I've never really cared how attractive someone was in a TV show as long as their looks aren't the character's major trait. As for sex scenes, as long as their average and the scene is done tastefully, go ahead.
They have a show called Lucifer? haha! OH maannnn!
Hmm, I haven't seen a TV show in so long. Last couple i watched regularly was thats 70's show and 2 and a half men. I watched it for the comedy, although 2 and a half men always had sexy guests, that wasn't why i watched it. If everyone was average, it would still be hilariousYes ofcourse, i watch TV shows for the story not the characters apperances.
I absolutely love things like Stargate SG1 and while the badguys had explainable attractive characters (They only take hosts from the finest of humans) the normal cast is actually very normal.I am actually way more likely to watch a show if the cast is average looking.
Riverdale annoys me because most of the cast do not even look like everyday high schoolers. It isn't an accurate portrayal.
I love this Lebanese show about Hezbollah and the war against Israel because the entire cast look like every day average citizens.Sure. It seems that American TV is more obsessed with casting super attractive and physically perfect actors than over here in UK. British TV is full of not-very-attractive actors, it's more about the writing and the humour and the pathos, we don't care whether they're flashing their pearly whites all the time or if they have symmetrical faces.
Breaking bad, doctor who, criminal minds, and black mirror are all drama shows with normal looking people i do watch black mirror and some doctor who often. Ugly people are not often in TV shows unless it's a comedy like the office or big bang theory.
Yeah that is kind of what makes a movie or a show not realistic, take a tour through Walmart if you want to see regular people, not sure if the show or movie would interest us if people werenât attractive in them. Reminds me of the movie âLast Action Heroâ where this kid got sucked into this action movie and tried to explain to the main character he was just in a movie and while in a Blockbuster video store pointing out that there were no unattractive people anywhere
I think Lucifer is one of the rare shows where literally every character is overly attractive. But I would watch one with less attractive characters. I know it's old, but I love the show Frasier. I only really thought Daphne and Roz were the attractive ones on there, and even then they were dressed pretty average. Another good one is We The People or another show called The Good Doctor. Both shows have average and attractive actors.
