What do you think about the songbird in Stairway to Heaven?

Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven has clever lyrics that always made me wonder.

In a tree by the brook there’s a songbird who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiving

my question is does the songbird just sing?
does the songbird sing sometimes?
does the songbird sing sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiving

and it makes me wonder

Praising it is a cliché but it is a fantastic song, a real guitar anthem. The folky first few minutes are beautiful, and I enjoy the way it builds up to a hard rock song. Page's guitar solo is one of his best, as it's melodic but still shows off his skill.

I'm not sure what the lyrics mean, but they feel suitably poetic.

I believe that "In the tree by the brook / There's a somgbird that sings" and "Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven" are separate sentences, as opposed to the songbird singing the latter sentence.

Yes, I believe that line is separate to the spngbird. But you can't read too much into the lyrics on this particular song.

Plant said on the introduction to the song on the live album called it a song of hope but in interviews when asked he said it was about a woman that takes and doesn’t give back

In the song "Stairway to Heaven" the "songbird who sings", they are talking about LUCIFER who is a Fallen Angel. Look at a picture of Baphomet, if you notice the Baphomet has wings.

Lucifer was an Angel, who was the Chief Musician in Heaven and that is why he is a Songbird.
