I'm Asian and I value culture and heritage. In my opinion weebs only see anime and hentai and think that is the entirety of Japanese culture. Even in the new spider-man movie "Enter the Spider-verse" the anime inspired character was based completely on stereotype:

I mean an Anime cute girl fighting in a Gundam style robot? How stereotypical Japanese can you get? It seems like all shallow-minded Westerners think of Japan/Asia is that it's all just cute girls in giant robot suits fighting Godzilla or something.
As an Asian guy I just find this so insulting and disrespectful. I guess it's like for Italians only seeing stereotypes of Italy on T. V. and getting infuriated.
To all weebs on this website I say you are an insult and a disgrace to all traditional Asian cultures!

Personally, I watch a lot of anime and a big fan, I do have a few things from some of my favourite ones but I think the things about being a weeb is you have three times of weebs; the ones, who sexualize Asian people and think they need an Asian partner for the anime aesthetic... they creep me out.

The weebs, who do it for the culture, as in the just like Japanse culture and respect the culture and know their limits and then you have the people who think Asian people who are all into anime and they make it their entire personalities, to the point the around Asia screaming, 'Senpai' even though not all Asians speak the same language.

It's hard to tell the difference unless you ask but personally, I just like the stories and I've always wanted to learn Japanse so I watch the shows

I think your analysis is astute. My criticism is mostly directed the third kind of weeb you are describing here the one that thinks all of Asian culture is just one thing and then they repeat it over and over. But of course some people cannot be saved I guess

I don't mind if people watch anime, that's cool. But when they start obsessing over it and forming their entire lifestyle around it, it's really stupid (and quite embarrassing if the Japanese think all non-Asian geeks are like that). Like I have some friends who only watch anime for the sake of it being anime. Why? I don't understand. They just limit themselves to that style of animation because... I guess it makes them feel special? Anyways, I guess at the end of the day, it's just more stereotyping. We all suffer from it and we can all agree it's very shitty.

I'm a little confused you got a problem with anime? Cause I thought a weeb is another word to call people fans of anime. I personally think otaku sounds better but well now everybody call each other weebs.

If someone claims to be a weeb I don't have a problem with it. I don't have a problem with people that are fans of anime.

Weeb is slightly different meaning than otaku. Otaku means someone is obsessed with anime and is usually referring to Japanese boys in Japan. Weebs are people who are NOT Japanese or Asian but obsessed with Japanese culture from afar and cannot stop talking about all things Japanese. It is a derogatory term created by Americans for those types of people

I think Japan has interesting culture but they have bad history killing and massacre-ing my people so I am apprehensive of moving there and learning their culture because bad historical memory. For me I think a balance between China and Japan is the best probably Shanghai and Taiwan yeah...

And also it's just the government being mean I think individual Japanese are probably kinder but their society is not democratic enough to allow that difference I suppose...
