Do you think "if you don't like it, don't buy it" is a good argument whenever someone criticizes something?

It depends, if like you said, the initial argument was a legitimate one then "if you don't like it, don't buy it" as a rebuttal sucks. Because it's a logical fallacy, regardless if the person liked it or not (their personal opinion), it's still a fact that the movie isn't good. It's just a personal attack, not an argument.
But, if the initial "argument" was just complaining and hating on the movie, then rebutting "if you don't like it, don't buy it" is decent. It wasn't really an argument in the first place.
If they're complaining about something they haven't bought/don't intend to buy, it's a valid argument.
If they've bought something and they need to rant, it's a dick thing to say.
If you're both disappointed and you stopped your bitching an hour ago but this person just can't let go of it, it's a dick thing to say - you just need to ask them politely if you guys can change topic or switch to what you did like. But I'd get why someone in this situatuon might say it.
I mean it's sound logic in someways You wouldn't buy pizza if you didn't like, or buy it just to complain about it right?
However if you like pizza but they sent it and it's cold, you either demand a refund or they fix it by sending a new one. In a game eventually patching something or improving it in a way would be equal to that. This whole thing depends if you don't like the whole thing or you like the whole thing but just something was off with it.
I see it as more of a philosophy or cliche like "Is the juice worth the squeeze?" and as such has a value, but I wouldn't call it "perfect".
Also, if someone said that each and every time anyone criticized anything, it would seem mindless and annoying. Like an excuse not to use your brain but just parrot some catch phrase.

It's an OK argument. But not totally great. For example, I don't like how people on eBay can return something just because they have "buyer's remorse" or because they are dumb. I sold a satellite radio once and specifically chose the "no returns" option eBay provided. But apparently that doesn't matter. eBay doesn't enforce its own option. The person returned it by saying it didn't work. It worked 100% fine. It lit up like a Christmas tree when I plugged it in. I called eBay and they said he had buyer's remorse and I was out of luck. Then the dope buyer gave me negative feedback that was stuck on my account for a year. The fool probably didn't realize he had to sign up for a subscription. And once he opened it, I couldn't sell it to someone else. I just gave it away to a friend. And of course this jerk buyer was from dirty Texas. lol.
Well sometimes that is totally true. Like if someone bitches and moans for half an hour about how some pair of designer jeans is so expensive - why bother, just don’t fucking buy them? But it someone moans about how many tea bag brands still contain micro plastics and can’t be fully composted, the argument, “Just don’t buy them,” isn’t really relevant.
When you care about something, its not enough to not buy it. You want it to be better. So the don't like it don't buy it only applies to things you don't really care about.
It doesn't make sense, because if you're at the point of realizing you don't like the movie, game, etc, then that means it's already been paid for...
My sibling complains about how nasty some food is that i like
And keeps saying it my sibling doesn't buy it so i can't say it to them
Why keep telling me about it hahahhaa
Well even when i dont buy it it stills bother me. Because people still talk about it and shove it in my face.
That’s a good argument when someone is calling for censorship — if you don’t like it, don’t watch it, read it, listen to it, look at it.
thats the perfect argument
you just can't argue with that, there is just no point
Yeah it's simple but it definitely it's how I buy things
Not everyone likes the same things, so I think the argument is a valid one.
It’s a good argument but still you can be a little annoyed if you want lol just don’t over do it
By then it's too late because you've already bought it.
Its the best and most logical argument. Sadly the left is too stupid to understand that. If they dont like something it must be destroyed.
