I used to crank this to the max. When I would watch thanks movies with my young son, at first I could never resist cranking it, but he would yell at me that it was too loud. So, I had to reserve the cranking it up to 11 for when I was alone. Totally awesome sound.
I missed your warning about needing hyphens, so thanks above is T-H-X. Also, thank you for providing the background information about it. I never knew about that. I'll have to share that with my now grown son to see if he feels differently about it after all these years. I doubt it, though. He never did like loud noises.
I’m surprised by the cranking to 11. Always thought that was low. Yes, no matter how many times I corrected it to T-H-X, without hyphens, it switched it when I went to post the question. Finally I gave up. Yes, I’d be interested to know if he has changed his reaction to it!
@DarkCarousel I asked my son about it a few hours ago. He said he likes the sound itself, but not the massive amplification. He said he just doesn't like loud noises.

The short deepnote is spooky to me. I don't like it.
The (original?) 20 sec long sound... gets me so excited! I started laughing, all giddy, when I heard it. It is filed in my brain as, "Ooooooh something exciting is about to happen!"
The bass on the first Solar quest album, "Orgship", a few tracks by Orb, the tail end of "Little Neutrino" by Klaatu. In fact, I use that one to tell how good speakers are! If I play that and can turn it up LOUD and it doesn't hurt the speakers, they're damn good!! There's probably others I just don't recall, at the moment.
