Up until junior high school, I rode the bus to school every day. Everyone filed in: girls on the left and boys on the right. No choice of seatmates, you took the next available seat.

For those who are wondering about the backseat, which was a long bench: it was boys on odd days (XY chromosomes?) and girls on even days (XX chromosomes?).

The 1973 oil embargo ended free bus transportation to school. Out came the bicycle, and now I was peddling to school!

Yeah kids can be cruel! It’s better now in person, but the bullying has moved online, which in many ways is SO much worse, because you can never just go home and feel safe. Using social media, they just walk right in your bedroom and destroy your self confidence or will to live! But schools are SO strict on bullying that it just didn’t happen like that last year when I was in high school!
