Are movies becoming obsolete to TV shows?

More plot can be fit into a tv show than a movie, and streaming services like Netflix has provided a space for tv shows that are designed to be watched in order.
If cobra Kai was a movie, it probably wouldn’t be nearly as good because they would have to limit the plot.

Both movies and TV are becoming less entertaining. I think it is better to produce a couple of really good movies and have them run in cinemas and charge people 10-15 dollars to see them instead of making dozens of mediocre movies and stream them on Netflix.

I like watching movies a lot better as they cost a lot more money to make. A big-budget costs 200 million dollars to make and you get to absorb all that money by watching the movie in 2 hours. tv shows usually cost far less to make so you don't absorb nearly as much money when watching tv shows.

I don’t think movies are becoming obsolete but I can honestly say I watch more TV series now than I do movies. Think viewing patterns are definitely changing.

... years old. Whatever came out then was the bestest thing ever! In my case, Star Wars.

I do like the scope that a TV series allows. American Gods and Outlander are a couple that really deserved the long format, they don't have to leave as much out! I'm looking forward to Rivers of London done like that.

I certainly hope not. TV shows are great, but there's something about a feature film that is just really special to me. The format of 80-110 minutes should never be abandoned. I think it's the perfect amount of time to tell a story.

My wish is that this pandemic would end, people will move on with their lives, and movie theaters will open again.

Some stories would be dragged out too long if they were made into TV shows. Some of them would be better told in the form of a movie.

Imho yes. The rest being that tv shows run for many seasons and allow for a proper and natural pacing into character development that you can't squeeze into a 2 hour window.

Hell no. Most new TV shows are just retreads of old ones. Then again, so are movies. We're all out of ideas, that's why comic book movies became popular.

No. Movie is something you watch in one go. It has the introduction, main plot and ending all packed into 90-120 minutes.

The sound systems.
The size of the screen.
The atmosphere.
