Do you believe that the movies today are more of a light show as compared to the old movies, before 90s and 80s?

It's as if the black and white screen era was the true movies era story-wise, acting-wise, and authenticity-wise. I also believe that the movies from 1945 to 1985 tops were the golden movies still seen by people regardless of their age.

Also, I used to consider superhero movies today, as movies. But after watching some modern real movies like Green Book, The Trial of the Chicago 7, and many others I don't remember at the moment, I seriously began to doubt my beliefs.

And now I can firmly say that all the superhero movies, may be good for printing money, but they cannot be termed as movies. At most, they can be said to be comic book adaptions, nothing more.

What do you say about this?

There's no question that most movies today are pure shit!!
The thing is, like with music and t. v., part of the reason those older things ARE the golden era is because they were doing FANTASTIC stuff back then that, if you wanted to do it today, all you have to do is push a button or have a computer doing for you! Back then, we were making the impossible possible with VERY armature means!! People today, in some cases almost 100 years later, are STILL trying to figure out how shit was done back then!! In the Buster Keaton movie, "Sherlock Junior", there's a scene in that movie where a guy is standing against a wooden fence about 8' tall and he's holding a briefcase open in front of him and tells Buster to dive into it. Buster runs towards the guy and dives into the briefcase and the guy closes it and walks away!! HOW? They didn't have CGI back then!! But, THAT'S how they'd do it today!!

You have summed up my opinion perfectly. Blockbuster sized studios are able to drown the complete movie in CGI, ignoring plot, story, logic, acting, etc. All these latest expensive superhero movies are examples of that. I doubt I will rewatch any of them. I much prefer movies from the 1940s to the 1990s.

I don't watch black and white movies, nor movies that were done before the 70's. I have no interest in them and these times weren't good for my people.

I agree that some of the movies made today are bad, but I still prefer them to the black and white ones.

I tend to watch a lot of 80s to early 2000s films on weekends and even if the graphics aren't as great as todays people prefer, the films were so much better back then. All this new cgi stuff if overrated and the acting ain't all that great either

I’m just tired of CGI replacing practical effects, and I’m tired of Prequels that include characters from the rest of the franchise. Like “oh no, I wonder if they’ll make it out, oh wait they will because there’s X movies that take place later” “oh, I wonder how X character got Y body feature!” (Scene specifically made just to show how that happened) Like, I miss when shit didn’t have to be fully explained in it’s origins, mystery is magic, and corporations don’t get the magic aspect

That movie along with other movies by Tom Cruise like Rain Man, A Few Good Men, Jerry Maguire, The Last Samurai, even Risky Business too, are really good by him. Even Minority Report can be included in the list.
