Why do you think so many modern movies are trash?

Garbage, sometimes incoherent or immature writing.
Poorly written and often equally poorly acted or portrayed characters.
Unoriginal stories, often blatant rip-offs of something else with political agendas shoehorned in.
Poor marketing that attempts to appeal to audiences that are never going to see the movie anyway at the expense of the core fanbase, with directors and actors who will openly attack fans and call them ___phobes or bigots despite the real issues being the points above. While it's somewhat expected from fledgling artists, even seasoned directors and actors are prone to the same outbursts as they run out of ideas and begin to expect appreciation.
One of the first things I ever notice in entertainment media is the dialogue. When it's overly cheesy, uses modern lingo in a historical setting, or sounds like it was written by/for children, it's an immediate red flag for a trash movie/series/video game. Directors making casting decisions in the name of ethnic or sexual diversity instead of talent is another huge red flag. In fact all of these things tend to go hand in hand more often than not, with the very predictable outcome being a failed movie/series/game and the people behind it screaming about being victims.
Covering up poor plots and directing with schlocky sound and CG effects. Dialogue and characters are often cliche. Noise and effects are relied upon to keep people's interest.
I fucking hate fast paced editing and action bullshit.
Oh, and night time and darkness are actually dark, as in nothing visible except for brief glimmers and flashes. I fucking hate that, too. There is no point in looking at a black screen.
In the days of the old studio system, there were professional writers and directors, and films relied on great acting, lighting and cinematography that drew views in. People could relate to the plots and characters.
You are so right so many movies today are such trash and shit I can't even like I wanna spit on them, I dunno why it's become like this what happened, like what happened? Can you tell me what happ cuz I don't know what happened...
Special interests pushing their agenda.
@Dchrls78104 Maybe film school is going down the drain
@SweetDumplings that, too.
The people who make them don’t take the time to care about details.

In the past movies were made to not only make people to have intense emotions, but also to causes questions in their minds. Stories were made to entertain in a smart way combining innumerous techniques with all devotions in attempt to create a masterpiece. Now days what we got is a lack of creativity and a bunch of useless artificial effects.
Directors don't need to put effort in the creative process anymore, they just need to have enough money. That's why all superhero movies are the same, if you watch one of them you don't need to watch the one that's going to be released next year. I'm not a fan of old west movies, but they carry such baggage of life lessons, intriguing points,. Once the world intelligence is decreasing, they no longer need to have an interesting story, they just need fan service and special effects.

The costs/budget are ever increasing, making it less likely filmmakers taking any risks, but rather sticking with the same formular, like the 15th Fast and Furious or the 100th marvel superhero movie, or some reboots of old classics which disappoint the old fans.
Rising production costs have forced companies to reach out to a broader audience, which necessarily requires a blander approach, so as not to alienate people. Increased reliance on the international market also waters things down, since complex humor and in-depth character interactions often don't translate well over cultural lines.
Wokeness and political propaganda
Pandering to China
Feminist pandering
Hiring cheap writers
Hiring unproven Indy directors, often times as diversity hires
Being cheap overall
There are so many movies produced by streaming services that have small budgets and unknown actors that try to imitate other movies. Most of these have not been very good.
They are more focused on a message than making good cinema.
They rely on special effects rather than a well written script and great acting.
What do they really have to offer? What is the underlying message the movie is sending? How is the quality of the music, the acting, the film scenes?
because they focus more on politics and pushing agendas than creating good storylines. Intentionally working to remove people's momentary escape from reality and replace it with a 2 hour slap in the face about divisive politics and issues.
More movies are being made because it's easier nowadays which also brings more trash?
Lack of imagination for something new and untried and being too PC.
same crap over and over , no imagination. They make remakes all the time.
Rushed
Chasing trends
