What is the number 1 saddest movie for you?

"Testament" from 1983

I was a junior in college when I saw this movie in theaters around Thanksgiving 1983 with my BFF from high school.
When it was over and we walked out of the theaters, everyone was silent.
Then, my buddy said to me "Why did you make me watch that film?"
It's a very upsetting movie.
From Roger Ebert's review:

-----------------
"Testament" may be the first movie in a long time that will make you cry. It made me cry. And seeing it again for the second time, knowing everything that would happen, anticipating each scene before it came, I was affected just as deeply.
...
The film is about a suburban American family, and what happens to that family after a nuclear war. It is not a science-fiction movie, and it doesn't have any special effects, and there are no big scenes of buildings blowing over or people disintegrating. We never even see a mushroom cloud. We never even know who started the war. Instead, "Testament" is a tragedy about manners: It asks how we might act toward one another, how our values might stand up, in the face of an overwhelming catastrophe.
...
In the midst of this devastation, Jane Alexander, as the mother, tries to preserve love and decency. She stands by her children, watches as they grow in response to the challenge, cherishes them as she sees all her dreams for them disappear. It is a great performance, the heart of the film. In fact, Alexander's performance makes the film possible to watch without unbearable heartbreak, because she is brave and decent in the face of the horror. And the last scene, in which she expresses such small optimism as is still possible, is one of the most powerful movie scenes I've ever seen.
-----------------
"Testament" was nominated for one Academy Award, a Best Actress nomination for Jane Alexander.

Great choice I love the movie
The phantom of the opera
Not bc of the story but bc of the singing. It's so wonderful yet, sad at the same time. I cry every time I watch it.
I rarely show negative emotion at a movie. I cried during Schindler's List.
Terms of Endearment - young mother of 3 dies of breast cancer.
“Titanic”. And the music really adds to the sadness of it.
I first would say Old Yeller but I thought Avengers Endgame was sad on a couple of different levels.
Wind river, Schindler's list, and The Nightingale. Oh and also "In this corner of the world". There's probably lots more I'm just not thinking of.

The Best Crying Scenes I've Ever Seen 😭 ↗
@DizzyDesii Ya I don’t cry much but I came across it and was like wtf who made this. It basically keeps kicking you in the balls non stop.
It really does. I thought Ponyo would end up sad like that but thankfully it didn't. And Spirited Away would scare tf outta me 🤣
@DizzyDesii yep, you like anime so I want to ask you a question. Is anime a tool of pervs to groom girls to be more sexually active at a younger age? Now it looks more like pedo crap when I see it.
Im not a fan of anime outside of Studio Ghibli films. So im not really sure about anime outside of that
@DizzyDesii ya I got into it when my ex when we were kids but as I watched them more I started to see a trend. Old men doing inappropriate things to little girls. Even older looking ones get features of children so I looked into the culture of Japan and boy was that eye opening. They should be put in jail and not released in the USA.
