I think there can be a correlation, but you definitely shouldn’t judge someone based on music taste.
My music taste most definitely does not match my personality.

First of all I love music I love the energy of it I love the vibration of it I love the beat of it I love the sound of it when things blend together and they make something beautiful I think that's what life is all about just like when you meet somebody and you blend together it's beautiful then you add music to it everything on this planet vibrates interview vibrates music has that Rhythm has that beat and it's catchy it's beautiful it makes you vibrate with it people with anxiety when they have a panic attack I believe it's something in the air the vibrations that are around them it's also vibrations that will control and calm them through music vibrations notice when people are angry listen to what is going on around them is there a sound is there a vibration that is irritating and pissing them off look at women when they want to come down where do they do they pulled out the vibrator LOL it's soothing it comes in and makes them happy. LOL
I think in some cases yes you can learn a lot about a person and a music for me I just left music too much so I'm everywhere I'll send you a couple of things that I like it's because of the Rhythm the beat the vibration of it
If it honestly said something, I'd be in jail for several murders, worship Satan and be addicted to every known drug. People tend to think it does say something negative due to mainstream media beating the idea that it does into their head. So it's less about your musical taste saying something about your personality and more about how mainstream media can high jack a persons through process.
That is why I highly recommend people turn out everything related to the mainstream media and study the Illusory Truth Effect. Because Hitler used the effect and so does both CNN and Fox News.
No, most people like whatever music was popular while they were in high school, well, either that or what they were most exposed to growing up! Personally, I absolutely love 80s pop music, and even 80s glam-rock metal! That’s what my parents always listened to… a lot. My mom with her pop music playlists from the 80s playing out of every speaker in the house on weekends, and dad listening to 80s heavy metal & glam-rock while WE worked on restoring cars together in his home auto shop. Now if someone is dressed in a particular style that is related to a specific genre of music, that may say something about them, but not their personality and certainly not anything deeper like morals, or ethics. Basically someone’s preferred music says as much about they’re personality as their favorite color.
I think it can but also not always. I'm pretty hyper and girlie when you get to know me but metal is my music preference. And even the style of metal I listen to depends on my mood. 😂

In most cases, Yes. In some cases, it tells you which phase they are going through.
I don't think there is a correlation between music taste and personality. I am a metal/rock guy, but I also listen to country, jazz, and some rap.
Just because I like rock/metal doesn't make me an emo person with dark fantasies. Just because I listen to country doesn't mean I drive a listed truck drink Pabst Blue Ribbon all day.
People just may be surprised because they pegged you as a listener to something different. I have gotten a lot of looks for my taste in rock and metal from many as if stunned.
Yeah me you can probably. I listen to country , and southern rock , I also am liable to throw some bone thugs on and make the change jump in my truck like “Breland” says. I might listen to Jelly Roll when I’m in the mood for that kinda thing. Post Malone works too. I listen to a lot of tunes. I drive a lot. It’s nothing to me to go on a 1000 mile road trip.
Here’s a song I really like right now. I was jamming it among others earlier out in my truck.
I never really thought so, but lots of people judged my personality due to my music taste. I love listening to Avenged Sevenfold, Asking Alexandria, Bring Me The Horizon, bands like them and people would assume that I'm angry, depressed, and even thought I was suicidal. So it was always a shock to them when they really get to me. I'm like the total opposite of what they thought. I just love the music.
They also assumed I was a atheist lol
Same here, same bands I listen to as well lol. Hence the photos… Totally opposite 😆
I listen to almost every genre of music that’s out there, and I can say I wholeheartedly agree that music tastes are a good way to judge someone’s character.
I’ll listen to a song like The Violence by Rise Against and get out of my little beetle while wearing orange slice earrings and a shirt about wildflowers with dungarees on.
I’ll wear a shirt that has a zombie being shot in the head and listen to Flamingo by Kerokerobonito
Not all the time, yes you might have people wearing goth stuff into goth music, and other fashion to music genres.
These days a lot of people have such a wide variation in music, that nailing a personality down to a genre can be impossible.
Some are quite surprising, my legal consul is full on Goth and talking to her professionally you would never know.
I hate stereotyping people and accept people can have a certain like and not have the personality etc linked to it,
I think there is a generality that types of music tend to give a tell of a person; but I've known quite a few where their taste in music didn't depict their character at all in the way I thought it might. But, yes, sterotypically, music taste tends to depict someones personality, IMHO.
Not necessarily, I think people are wired for appreciations of different types of experiences, including auditory. I think that people who only like one type of music or one artist have not had many experiences or much exposure to the alternative sources music.
I don't think so, I like 50 cent / Shaggy / Boyz 2 Men/ Billy Ocean / Seal
Dan Hill / Akon / Ray parker Jr / Lionel Ritchey... No matter people say
this is a good taste of music to me and people say anything I will defend
these singers but I do admit If I feel like crying cause of the lyrics I will do it
actually yes. Famous French Sociologist Pierre Bourdieu (one of the classics of social sciences) actually laid the groundwork of modern social science by famously using difference in music taste as a means to express a certain habitus. he used that to found his theory of social strata and social circles, which was later further developed into the theories of social spheres and belongs to the groundwork describing the structure of society.
Yes and no. I listen to a lot of music. Mainly heavier rock. But I also listen to Country, hip hop, oldies, etc. I'm sure if someone heard me blasting Slipknot they would probably not expect the next song to be the Beatles. I feel like people will definitely judge you for what you listen to. But I don't think it necessary makes someone a bad person. You can't judge a book by its cover.
Haha, I'm just like that meme! Calm and very patient personality but my music taste starts with "Satyricon" (black metal) and "One Man Army & The Undead Quartet" (death metal). For unknown reasons some people think that we metalheads are psycho killers but in reality I've never met more calm and open-minded people than the metalheads. :)
I agree it can potentially give some insight but is definitely not enough to fully judge someone's personality. I like other genres of course, but rock/metal is at the top for me as well, and I like to think I'm pretty laid back.
Yes, I think it does. Since we're on the subject, what do you think of this masterpiece?
https://www.youtube.com/embed/2oRlBmwKzy4Cats have a deep appreciation of music.
it can be a tell to certain point yes...
but it does not reflect the whole story, that is for sure
there are some things I am into, enjoy, like or find interesting... but even I judge myself because of it... lmao
In my own case I'd say no, it's difficult for me to really make a profound statement about it as I have such a wide range of music genres that I enjoy. The only genres I tend to not listen to would be opera and rap.
@WhatTheHeckkkk thanks for the like 😃🕺you're very insightful for your age!
In some cases. Usually the more extreme cases. People that love punk and metal tend to be quite aggressive, people that like east listening tend to be timid little rabbits.
*easy listening
I DO think it says something about someone's personality. In thinking about people from my past, their music taste said a lot about their personality type
Yes very much so. If he likes rap music and is white it’s usually a hard no for me, the guys I’ve been out with like that are usually kinda racist and misogynistic
Yes, it can. I like songs with intricate lyrics and appreciate i good turn of a phrase. I try to be a pretty literate person.
Other people may like to be rowdy and loud and i that could get reflected in their musical tastes.
Not at all. People are kind of surprised by some of the music that I listen to, compared to how I act.
i think music taste reflects your personality somewhat. it doesn't play a huge part in my opinion, but still.
I don't think I would judge them for the music.
Can we judge them for how they play their music in their cars? LOL.
It probably does, because I'm quite multifaceted and I like lots of music. No overarching preference really, depends on my mood. The genres I don't like are heavy/death metal, modern rap or dance band music.
Yes it does. I have seen people who don't seem to have some sort of issues but the second you listen to their music and realize they really like it. Yea the music that you like is what you like to hear/see
I don’t think so, everyone can listen different kind of musics and it’s not giving me any clues about their personality or life.
The best relationships I have had with women are those who are into rock.. Power ballads mostly.
Hmm I think it’s possible. Maybe the way your brain is wired would make you like different rhythms… like an energetic person may like something more upbeat.
In general, no. But if a person only likes one or a very limited type of music, then that would indicate that they are very set in their ways and/or not open to new things, in my opinion.
I'd like to think so but I struggle to see a direct correlation. Also I listen to completely different music when I'm driving than when I'm chilling at home. I'll be interested to read other opinions on this.
No and i do think that is stupid lol cause i like Heavy Metal and punk rock and just rock but you would never know and it has nothing to do with my personality, i also like Rap, but that doesn't mean im a drug dealer killer lol
I agree that there can be a correlation in some respects but nothing definitive.
No, not necessarily. I like different music depending on my mood. Sometimes I’ll even use a certain type of music to purposely create the mood that I want at that particular moment.
I used to but honestly not really. It says what they like and not much more than that. Maybe there’s a deeper psychological thing with more percussion vs whatever they’re a sociopath.
Those are all great, I listen to Breaking Benjamin all the time
I think it says more about someone's state of mind.
I'm a huge k-pop fan, I wonder what that says about me then
I bid on CD collections and yes I can tell pretty much if the person was liberal or conservative by who they listen to
I don't think it's true. I am not a party girl but my playlist is full of party songs.
You make a good point.
i could listen to someone like Tekashi 6ix9ine but am a huge lover and flirty when it comes to women.
Yes, there’s a clear connection.
It fists 100% the description.
Sorta or who you are.
No its just their taste in music
No. Unisex is a silly idea people grow out of.
Nope. :p
