I buy music on a CD but the moment it arrives I rip it into a 32-bit WAV format and relocate the content to a hard drive, flash drive and my phone. Discs are only good for a long term storage but not for a source of multimedia to listen to or watch every day bc they get scratches and the content gets corrupted.

I burned all the 6 seasons of Supergirl on BD-Rs, put them in special plastic boxes, wrapped them all up in a plastic bag in order to nullify the chances for any speck of dust ever making its way inside and then put that plastic bag in a cartoon box perfectly sealed from all angles. That way they will outlive me. But if I use them on a daily basis, they won't last a year because there's always this thing called "wearing of the material".
For the same reason (wearing) I don't listen to CDs directly, I rip them first. Not to mention the portability problem - a CD/DVD is big, it requires a special player which will "jump", if you do any sudden move, it has moving parts which drain its battery like a hungry stray dog and on top of that a CD/DVD can't hold many tracks, especially if you're a quality maniac like me. I used to rip the music into mp3 files bc years ago I didn't have much space. But now that I have 6 TB free space for a few years, I've transformed almost all of my music into WAVs. Average WAV file size - 70 MB. And here we get back to the portability problem: 4.3GB DVD can hold only 63 tracks (tops) which is far from enough. If I want to be able to listen to all of my music when I'm outside (currently it's a little more than 80GB), I'll have to carry at least 20 DVDs with me. Sure, I could burn the music to a BDR disc but to my knowledge there's no such a device as a "bluray disc music player". That's why the phone is the best option. Nowadays even the budget versions of smartphones can hold at least 128 GB of files. If I can have 1TB of files in my pocket (Supergirl is 170GB), why on Earth would I make my life difficult with CDs? 🤣

Because the songs from Spotify, Amazon and so on are already compressed. Spotify's idea of "high quality" is 256 kbps mp3 and the other services aren't far behind. 🤣🤣 Thanks but no, thanks.
Let me give you an example: AC/DC - Rock'n'roll Train. Compressed to 320 kbps mp3 (this is the maximum quality for an mp3), certain sounds are lost. But when you rip it to a WAV from the CD, you can hear all the missing sounds as clear as if you're in the studio with the band.

Including CD's and various forms of pre-recorded tapes, I have over 60,000 records that span the past 120-some years and play at almost all of the various standard speeds: 33, 45, 78, 80 rpm. I have yet to ever even SEE a 16 rpm other than via YT videos. And I play all of them at any time I feel like playing them. The only record in my collection that I can't play, as of yet, is the cylinder that I have. CD's ARE still being made and sold, as are vinyl records of various speeds so, why wouldn't I still be playing them? Not only do I still play CD's, I also still burn hundreds of them.

At the moment, I mostly listen to stuff on YT or MP3's because I don't have my stereo here or any of my records. I only have 150 to 200 CD's here. I probably have 1000 or so, total. When I was still living at MY house, I'd listen to YT, MP3 or CD when I was on the first floor at the computer, CD if I chose to sleep in the spare room on the 2nd floor and open reel tape if I chose to sleep in my bed on the 3rd floor. I'd also do a lot of recording from vinyl or shellac to either cassette, open reel or CD up there where all of my recording gear and records were. I collected certain groups or genres so, once I had stuff recorded to CD, I'd take it down to the computer where I could load it on and edit it to the way I wanted it, clean up the sound, if needed, reburn it to CD and then turn that into MP3's so I could take it anywhere I wanted to go once I either loaded it onto an SD cards or back onto another CD as a collection of MP3's. I could get nearly 13 hours of stuff per MP3 CD. I'd probably also copy the cleaned up CD recording to open reel because it can play 10" reels and I could get about 6.5 hours per reel. It also played in both directions so, I could listen for 13 hours in one sitting without getting up to change the reels.
Most often, in order to preserve the vinyl, I'd try to record them once and not play them again unless I had to. The 78's and 45's were not as much of a worry and, most often, if there was a non-album cut on a single, I'd buy two copies so I'll pretty much always have a mint copy in case something happens to the play copy.
As I spent most of my waking hours on the first floor, I'd mostly listen to CD's or MP3 on the computer. Up in my room, mostly vinyl and open reel tapes unless I felt like hearing something that was only on CD, so far. I'm not sure what the percentages would be. I SURE DO miss MY house, though!!

I was SUPPOSED to get 50% but I ended up getting only a third and my "lawyer" took at least half of that! Now, I have to use most of that to buy this house because my stupid aunt mortgaged it (AND the car!!) a week before she died, so she could give her scammer buddies MORE money!!
Yes, only recordings that needed cleaned up because of scratches or pops & clicks from dust and what have you. As for CD recordings, i might change the running order or edit stuff on or off as I wanted. I used to be prop manager and assistant stage manager for a local magician and he wanted to use a song behind one of his tricks and asked me to add 37 seconds to the original song. he gave me a CD recording of it because I didn't have a copy, yet and, using just a couple of the opening drum beats, I built a really cool :37-long drum solo and added it to the beginning!

Yeah, that's all I got. Plus, they took a few thousand out of my cut to have the asbestos removed from the basement!! As far as I'm concerned, that should've come out of the buyers pocket, NOT mine!! That stuff's been down there on those pipes since at least 1936 and it never hurt anyone!! Not that it can't but, it didn't!! The house sold for something like $180,000 or better and I didn't even get 1/6 of that!!!
THIS house was built in `62 for my grandmother. She died in `99 and left it to my aunt. She died last year and left it to me but there's no Will saying so! She mortgaged the place around Christmas and then died 2 weeks later just after the 1st.

Because that's what happened. Mom changed her Will a few months before she died leaving me with a 50% share of the house and a life estate and each of those two cunts were only supposed to get 25%. They didn't like that and wanted to go by her old Will which says we each get 1/3. They claimed that mom was not in her right mind when she signed the new Will, which was utter bullshit!! But, they, and their crooked lawyer, got the court to see it their way. My crooked lawyer didn't do SHIT to stop it!! I've been getting severely fucked from every direction for the past 15 or 20 years!!

Yes, I'm concerned but, I'm told I can go into town and get the house in my name and I suppose I'm gonna have to start payment on it before then. I'm looking into that, now but, of course, the worthless bint at the bank won't bother telling me how much I'm gonna have to pay or who I'm gonna have to pay. I've only asked her twice!! She CLAIMS she told me in a text but, I checked both of her texts again and there's NOTHING there that tells me how much I have to pay!
I think I should call up the bank and ask them to hire me as a loan officer. From what I've seen, it's the easiest job in the world! You don't have to do SHIT!! People come to you to ask for a loan, you tell them they CAN get a loan and you;re done! Obviously, you don't have to GIVE THEM the loan or any other information!! You don't even have to go into the office unless you want to!!
Anyway. as far as I know, those two ignorant cunts don't even know for sure that I still live here! One SUSPECTS IT and left me a note, once but, that's it!

I picked E. I've got 78 CDs and a small amount of vinyl (about 7 at the moment). Both collections steadily grow. Most of my records are originals and one is an (originally) out of print Metallica EP that was originally from Holland.

As for the CDs, i play em at home. A lot. In the car i use pandora because of good song variety. And i use Bandcamp and Youtube to find bands I've never heard. Eventually the bands I've heard while streaming i get a physical copy. Currently waiting on a CD coming from the U. K itll take about a month lol.

I definitley prefer physical albums. there's a sort of magic to hearing sound waves coming out of a CD or record. Bands go through the trouble of making album art too and putting lyrics sometimes in booklets or photographs in it. What do you get from streaming? Sound. Not bad, but not the same. With streaming you own a license to listen. With a CD, you own a physical copy of the band's work.

Did you know that the 8 track and cassette tapes came out in 1962, but the cassette tape lasted all the way to the 2000s. The 8 track barely survived the 1970s, last prerecorded 8 track was made in 1981.

Still buy and listen to cd and still listen to them on a good 2 channel hifi home stereo.

Cd has the best greatest hit compilations. It's not difficult to find a mix of all good songs on one cd. I also like the box sets on cd. There is so much available on CD and vinyl records that you can't find on mp3 or streaming services. MP3 doesn't sound very good if you listen through good speakers or anything better than ear buds. I don't care for the censorship with streamed media either.

In home I have alexa speakers. Record players. CD players (which haven't used in years) just ask Alexa to play anything wanted. Few times she said it wasn't available. I requested it. A couple hours to days and amazon had it listed. Only once were they not able to get rights to a song to play it.
Was talking about the connector cord/cable that goes from phone to auto stereo system. It kills the audio quality.

I don’t PM on this site. I save that for dating sites. But I never explained why I had rotten carpet in the back of my cute truck. I worked at a golf and country club. They had brand new carpet installed. When carpet installers install carpet, they end up with lots of beautiful pieces of scraps.
These were beautiful turquoise gems. The carpet guys threw them in the dumpster. That’s a fucking crime. Beautiful scraps of turquoise carpet don’t belong in a dumpster, they belong in the back of my wonderful truck.

The truth is, I was planning to put the carpet on my boat trailer, but never did. I had a beautiful $600 yacht.
It’s always windy on the ocean, so I had to go to a yard sale and buy hoodies for my poodles. I wasn’t sure if buying a sailboat was a good idea. There was a guy that worked at my country club, and I knew he owned a sailboat. I asked him for advice. I asked him if a motor boat would be smarter than a sailboat. He asked me why I would want a motor boat. I told him you could get “there” quicker. He asked me where “there” was. I had no answer, because I never really had a “there” in mind. He told me that the minute you step into a sailboat, you’re already “there,” He was so right. I bought it the next day. Me and my cute little puppies went out and caught us a ton of dungeness crab. There’s no way my family of three could afford crab from the store. We had to go out on the high seas and make it happen. We were brave individuals and took a few risks. It was the best memories of my life. My puppies weren’t interested in taking a sip of my beer, but they did like my fried chicken. :)

I told you about my buddy at the country club who owned a sailboat. He was the superintendent of the “greens'' crew.
Those were the dudes on the lawn mowers that made the greens look pretty.
We lived 20 miles from Canada. I’m no angel, and I don’t pretend to be. I’ve been to a stripper club in Vancouver BC.
A girlfriend of mine and her husband asked me and my friends with benefits to go with them to Canada. I thought it would be fun.
But I’m going to be honest with you. After about 3 minutes in a stripper club, you find yourself on your phone checking your GAG messages. Yes, it’s that f
