Nope, it is of no use anyways. I am here with my laptop and it have some audio problems so nothing would be audible from the video.
Wow thats good to know. My classmates called me weird for pronouncing like that.
Thanks for the MHO!
Like I pronounce gift
Have you ever seen those little moving pictures online and wondered how to pronounce them?
Well, wonder no more! GIF is pronounced "gif" (just like the word "gift").
The acronym GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format. GIFs are image files that are compressed to reduce file size without losing quality. They are often used to create simple animations and are popular on social media.
So there you have it! Now you can impress your friends by pronouncing GIF correctly.
The humble GIF has been a part of our lives for over 30 years now, and in that time, we've come to know it by a certain pronunciation: "gif" with a hard "g" sound, like in "gift" or "get." But it wasn't always this way. In fact, the original pronunciation was quite different.
So why is it pronounced GIF not Jif?
So there you have it. The next time you're feeling GIF-ish, remember to pronounce it with a hard "g" sound. It's the right thing to do.

"J-I-F" is pronounced "Jif", like the peanut butter.
"G-I-F", which is spelled differently, is pronounced differently. Like "Gift" without the "t" sound at the end.
For people who are still confused, here's examples of how things which are spelled differently are pronounced differently:
Jack vs. Gack, Jo vs. Go, Jump vs. Gump, Jill vs. Gill, Joy vs. Goy, Jif vs. Gif, Jape vs. Gape, Jam vs. Gam.
The "g" stands for graphic, and that is a hard g. Its not a soft g like jiraffic! :) :) :)
Soft G. The inventors of GIF say so. They are the ones who invented it, so they are the ones who get to decide how it's pronounced. For at least 25 years that's the only way I heard it pronounced. I was surprised when I heard that some people pronounce it with a hard G. To this day I don't think I've ever heard anyone pronounce it with a hard G in person.
This debate will never end. I think it's pronounced like "Gift" because it's a Graphics file. The way you pronounce the G in "Graphics" should be the same way you pronounce the G in "gif".
So you're saying it should be "Jay Feg"?
It used to be pronounced Jif but then Jif Peanut Butter sued the entire internet to pronounce it like “gift” or else be sued into oblivion. If you’re pronouncing it like “gift”, you’re in the clear. If you’re still pronouncing it Jif, then you are risking a lawsuit just like singing Happy Birthday in a restaurant in public.
Peanut butter?
Both are acceptable. Because people know what you're talking about. It's only pendants that get upset about it. And who cares about pendants?
With a hard g. Yes, I know that's incorrect. However, if *most* people pronounce it that way, is it really incorrect?
Say gift without "T", that's how you say it.
I've always pronounced it like in "grape" but the creator of it says the correct pronunciation is like in "jif".
Like the word "gift". It's not a J, it's a G.
You pronounce " gif " like this: /j/ /i/ /f/ . The i is short.
Gif.
I've heard that it's supposed to be pronounced the other way though.
Soft G, the way the creator of the format said it should be said!
I literally spell out "g," "i," "f"
Anyone who pronounces it as jif is gay as fuck
Like gift without the T
Gif like Jif is like peanut butter or cornbread lmao
Jif like peanut butter.
I pronounce it gif. And if you say gif instead of gif, you're wrong.
Jif because it sounds much better.
I'd go with A
