Does it count if you met a celebrity once who only got famous after the fact?

Someone was asking me if I ever met anyone famous and I couldn't think of anyone. But then, I remembered Rebel Wilson used to work at the cinema near where I lived as a teenager and I bought tickets from her more than once. I remember one particular occasion when she actually advised me not to see a particular movie because she thought I wouldn't like it. She suggested Van Helsing with Huge Actman instead and it was good advice. The movie was great.

But then my friend said that doesn't count because she wasn't famous at that time. Is he right? Does it not count?

Count for what? Few are born famous and few remain eternally famous. So what does it really matter? It's all just a moment in time anyways. They say everybody knows somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody who is famous at least. I knew the the sister of the previous guy who played Superman (Superman Returns). And my brother-in-laws parents used to babysit Ben Roethlisberger.

It counts, I met Cuba Gooding jr on a movie set, cause my mom was into doing extra work as a kid. Also when I was 4 I met Steven Speilberg in Las Vegas with my parents. If I ever seen a celebrity today I probably would not go up to meet them or try cause I would not care.

It absolutely counts! I always find it more impressive when I hear stories of people who met celebrities before they were famous. Everyone wants to meet them after the fact. It's just not the same.

That counts even more. My dad went to high school with one of the Metallica guys and that's cooler than knowing one now.

Depends on how the question is phrased. Technically you did NOT meet a celebrity. You met a woman who later became a celebrity. Different but the same.

Tricky semantic game. You technically did not meet a celebrity because she was not one when you did. But others have said, even cooler.
