That’s absolutely true! We often speak of the self-preservation instinct in psychology. (The fundamental tendency of human and non-human animals to behave so as to avoid injury and maximize chances of survival). Most people are (and should be) revolted by the thought of consuming human flesh. However just look at the so-called Donner Party, and the Chilean soccer team who crashed in the Andes. Both times, isolated humans being cut-off from the world survived by eating those who died! Wolves notoriously naw their own paw off when caught in a trap.
So yes, I fully believe that given a big enough threat, or a continued and repeated series of smaller threats, most people would become capable of the most unimaginable things!

No, not that I can remember. My parents were mostly into movies from the 80’s and 90’s. So like 40yrs back is really the limit of my classic film love.

Sorry hun, I’ve never seen Casablanca, or Gone With The Wind either, and I KNOW I need to see those! I guess, nobody can see ALL films, but what we can do is when a good film is suggested, log it in the mental list and on a rainy Saturday in the future.. watch it!

Casablanca is still great in my opinion. Gone with the wind though i felt was overly long and a tad boring. But still a great feat for lotion pictures. Another couple black and white films i loved in that era were grapes of wrath and sunset boulevard.

Yeah, i think a lot of the hypothetical questions answered here fail to remember that perspective. If you were born or raised completely different, you could be very different than you are now. Even now, gosh knows how would you ACTUALLY react to a critical situation.

I agree with that. There may be some things that I would never do under any circumstances. But in general, I'm sure that there are many things that I could/would do under the right circumstances that I would never dream of otherwise.
