"It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life." Do you agree or disagree?

You win or lose when you are competing. Mistskes are about factors you "can" control but fail to do so.
There are always factors you can't control. That is why even when you have a great Plan A you should have a Plan B and an emergency plan. Not every failure is entirely your fault.
But occasionally you should be very ruthless with yourself too despite strong negative emotions that come with failure and let yourself see what you could actually control that you didn't. That will obviously help you increase your chances of success. Overdoing that doesn't help though.
ruthless with yourself? so be hard on yourself after mistakes?
Not immediately. But it helps to go back and analyze your mistakes and let your analysis change you, which can be a little hard because your brain could resist to change.
E. g. you failed in a match because of a bad habit you thought was harmless. You analyze and understand it, but you've been doing that little thing for over 10 years. It will be hard to change yourself but if you want to have more control over your next match you are going to have to go through that.
Unless you cheat! That is the Kobiashi-Maru test. How one performs in an unwinnable test ask Capt. Kirk. Kirk simply changed the rules of the test because he doesn't believe in a no win situation.
The whole point of the test. Is for a Captain to experience something as close to failure as possible. Where there is only defeat. Where it's choice between losing big and losing really big. To quote CAPT. Kirk "Risk is part of the game if you want to sit in that chair". A great leader knows losing men under him inevitable. People are not a resource. They're not just expendable like other resources. But woe be to the capt. that holds the men's lives under him so precious that it coats him lives anyhow but victory as well.
A Capt. has to weigh human life Just right. To achieve victory but minimize death.
Yeah definitely, it’s not always about winning. Life is for living, if we spend to much time working out if we did a mistake or could we have done Something differently, then we miss the point about life.
you can have a perfect day, no mistakes everything done perfectly but fate is always there.
Live life and don’t over think where things went wrong, if they went wrong, why you did everything perfect but it still never worked, happened etc.
@Still-alive thank you most appreciated
Yes you could be the perfect cassette operator and not have a job because everybody else is using iPods, having good technique does not mean your skills are relevant or in line with contemporary trends, which is why it’s possible for brilliant academics to earn poorly, they do not have the social complexity to see and manufacture opportunity or to conjoin their talents to the society they take part in.

I agree that losing after trying to minimize mistakes is not a weakness. I simply disagree that it is possible to lose if you make none; because not knowing what could make you lose is a mistake in and of itself. Therefore, making no mistakes means that you have eliminated all chances of losing.
Obviously since no one is perfect, it is pretty much impossible to make "no" mistakes. Thus there is always a non-zero chance of losing.
Pardon me for being a first class nerd. Long before Picard said it, Kirk explained this to Saavik.
Damn Kirstie Alley was soo young
And gorgeous. I never understood why they couldn't bring her back.
Absolutely true. No one has perfect information about the future.. Serious poker players live by this. Last weekend I bet $300 and got called. I was a 2-1 favorite and on average my bet was a $100 winner. But not that hand. Still I would make the same play. On average out of three hands I will win twice and lose once for a net gain of $100/hand.
I strongly agree. Sometimes we make no mistakes and still things go wrong or we lose something. It happens to the best people in the world.
This is very true yes... especially in competitions. You can do all right and great, but... there was just someone else who did it as well, but better and more... and so they win.
I don't really think of terms of winning and losing.
But yes, agree. I voted B.
Yeah if you have authority figures holding you back and making your life miserable and crushing your dreams lol
AND KILLING YOUR SPIRIT which reminds me.. #freeBrittany
Yes. Life is too unpredictable for us to just be mistake free and expect results to come our way.
You can play a perfect game of chess but lose your connection at the last second and lose on time. Happened twice today. So there.
Agreed. You can only control your own actions any your responses. You can't control everything so you can still lose
I agree. But even when you lose you gain some knowledge. So even losers are winners. :)
Its true, you can do everything right and still fail - usually because somebody else screws up their piece of life which then gives yours a kick in the metaphorical balls.
Agree, just judging from league of legends games haha
Making mistakes is development of ones character
Schools hate mistakes because they want clones/worker bees to fit into the system
I agree with that. Some pooches just can't be screwed.
You brought Picard into this. I agree 🙂
he drops a lot of facts!
im probably gonna ask more star trek related stuff soon. and its all your fault! lol
cause you rock lol
yes performance is not highly correlated with success in many situations

You can't always win, even though you made good decisions.
It’s not a debatable question, it is without question a fact.
That statement makes complete sense.
I would love to see Pickards kobioshi maru test.
