A great amount of my music collection consists of singers or group members who've died. Does that make me sad or show today's music isn't that great?

well part of that is because they got older, some had tragic lives, and some it was their own fault.
I pretty much listen to classic vinyl on sirius xm, or the 50s and 60s channels.
Pretty much of those artists are no longer with us.

According to science, people's brains start losing their ability to differentiate one singer's sound from the next, so it's often easier for people to just assume that their generation's music is better than the latest generation's

That is because all the new singers DO sound alike. I think some music exec has a major Jones for some particular singers and therefore promotes those who sound like them.

I don’t think it means either of those things
