Little mermaid live action?

What’s everyone’s opinion? Not doing this to cause arguments so don’t want any hateful opinions just want to here peoples thoughts. And for anyone who doesn’t know Halle Bailey is the new Disney little mermaid actor who is black and obviously Ariel was white in the original, some people agree with it being ok and others do not.

I'm glad for the POC, but personally I'd rather see a new character than an original character changed.
Not specifically skin color, I wouldn't want to see any changes.
No other hair color, no different tail color, no different eye color.
I don't like changes in characters.
So I'm not against the movie, I just won't be watching it.

I don't see the point in getting bent out of shape about it. Because it's just a movie and there are much worse things going on in the world then a Disney character being race swapped. That and your time, energy and effort are better spent else where.

It doesn't matter regarding the story. She's a mermaid and mermaids aren't real. If you read a book version of The Little Mermaid, the author would not even describe her ethnicity.

I don't watch Disney's garbage money-grab remakes regardless of who they cast. Hiring a black actress was done only for woke points.
