I personally don't care because I don't like disney's creations other than the mcu and the star wars tv shows.

From what I've been seeing in memes people post, It's a reboot thats unfaithful to the original. That didn't work for ghostbusters or any other franchise.

People who like a series, tend to want it to follow the original story, with the original characters and events as they were previously portrayed, and only tend to accept reboots if better (but similar looking) actors replay the same events with better special effects or animations, and that only gets praise if the first version was cheesey effects or corny dialogue, and even then, sometimes thats done well enough that a reboot is still unwarranted.

These days gender and race swapping in reboots is commonplace, personally I think it's dumb, what happened to being creative? You can't just make new characters? You gotta rehash old ones with retcons? Pff, as an artist, I think thats just lazy af.

Little Mermaid was always my fave disney princess film (and then Aladdin). I’ll watch but I’m not too happy with Eric’s casting. Eric is my absolute fave prince and i just wanted someone who actually looked like him. Ariel is my fave princess so i would’ve preferred someone who looked more like the cartoon character, but I’m not going to hate on Halle. I look forward to seeing her in the role. Afterall, i dont watch films for the women. I watch for the men. So like i said, i’m disappointed that they didn't cast someone cute to play Eric

It's disingenuous how Disney panders to special interests. Original little Mermaid was based upon a Danish fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. Lots of people fell in love with Ariel as she was ordinally depicted, so displacing the cultural origins of story is culturally disingenuous to a lot people.

I am being sincere here, Cinderella was French, Ariel was Danish... why are we not celebrating these classic movies with the original context? Truth is because Disney is running out of idea, and now just pandering to people in the most disingenuous way. I mean honestly would relate to a movie about the holocaust where the Nazi's was played by a people of color? It just takes something way the authenticity of the movie, and cultural heritage.

The original is one of my favorites. Disney’s remakes are getting worse and worse. Plus she doesn’t look like the Ariel we all know and so many of us grew up with. I even had a crush on her. This movie looks too different, and I’m not exited for any more Disney remakes because of how much worse they’re getting.

Disney live action remakes of animated classics are usually not very good. 101 Dalmations was watchable, and the 2016 Jungle Book was okay, but both lacked a lot of the charm of the animated versions. None of the other live actions remakes was remotely good in my opinion.

I doubt it considering that her hair is partial dreads. Mulan was a mess and it didn’t resemble the original movie enough. They are also coming out with a live action Snow White and Bambi, I don’t think we need another Bambi movie that’s sad like that.

Yea I know but Bambi’s mom was done wrong with the off screen death and being shot, the lion king was more open about it kinda. The grimes’ story of the little mermaid is dark as hell and I’d rather not think about it
