(If anything, she should be pale blue, considering how little sunlight they get down there.)

Leave it to you to make a joke out of everything. I hate they didn't give her a tad bit of makeup underwater and its obvious they didn't let someone black do her dreads for this film because it would’ve been on point. I’m just glad she hit the note at the end of the song because most can't. I’m more annoyed that I always watched the film for Prince Eric and the guy they chose looks nothing like him... maybe a grandpa version of him because he just looks old in the face. I’m also annoyed that Melissa McCarthy is more jokey comedian type bt Queen Latifah actually played a better serious Ursula on the ABC broadway version. It has nothing to do with race, the thing that you seem obsessed with, but to me, Queen was just actually more convincing. Halle is pretty in a weird exotic looking way but she's just not Ariel and thats that. She’s also not dark-skinned unless you’re just comparing her to your pale white redheads which I assume you are. We know how much you love tall redheads so i expected major disappointment from you in regards to this film. I love Ariel, but i dont think even the original Little Mermaid (outside of Disney) was a redhead, so im not surprised she’s black now. Depending on how the rest of the future trailers go with the extended cast, i’ll debate on seeing it in theaters. But atm, i’m not pulled in. All of the other Disney Live Actions were boring. Cinderella with the blonde was okay but honestly needed some singing to liven it up. Thank goodness for Whitney Houston’s version in regards to that. Alice & Wonderland from 1999 on ABC was actually good. The ABC live Little Mermaid was very bad aside from Queen Latifah. Beauty & the Beast was impossible to finish and Emma fits nothing but Hermoine. Luke Evans as Gaston was the only hope for that film. I haven't seen Mulan but without Eddie Murphy i’m sure it’ll be lacking too. I love Beyonce but that live Lion King was horrible and her voice is not meant for voice acting and neither is she. Halle Bailey and her sister Chloe are Beyonces protege by the way but they also started acting in films long before they started singing with help from Beyonce. This new Pinnochio looks bad. Jungle Book was okay at most. Tarzan with the Skarsgard boy was boring af. Hercules with the Kellan was bad but Hercules with The Rock was actually good althought he always plays himself. Maleficient was surprisingly good but the sequel was not. Cruella doesn't look promising. The other Alice & Wonderland with Johnny Depp was boring. Don’t care to see Lady in the Tramp. Aladdin was the best live action disney and thankfully gave us music too unlike the others... but Will Smith looked horrible in blue.

I don't care about race, as I told you before, but considering this is a Danish fairy tale that Disney didn't even create, and they're crapping all over it to cast an ugly-looking actress who's only there due to nepotism and knowing Beyoncé, and every other live-action remake has been awful and unnecessary as well.

I bet a lot of black women would be complaining if they took an African folk lore story and whitewashed it to hell, but for some reason, it's not "wrong" when they do it in reverse and disrespect Danish culture like this. (To be honest, I thought it was disrespectful to have Gospel music in Disney's Hercules, as it's kind of mocking both Greek mythology and Christianity, on top of making no sense.) Some black women and whine and complain about white people wearing dreadlocks, when black people didn't even create dreadlocks, so I'm sure the same would apply here. "It's only wrong when Hollywood whitewashes something."

So all due respect, please don't put words in my mouth or bring up that race bullshit with me, because I'm not having any of it. This movie is woke propaganda, pure and simple. If this was 2005 and they swapped races, no one would care. But we know they've been pushing this BS since 2016 and didn't choose this hideous actress "because she's the best one who auditioned." She has connections to Beyoncé and some other music industry people and that's it. I don't even think she can sing. But besides that, she doesn't have a face to be in front of the camera, like I said. I'm not trying to be mean, but it's how I feel.

And judging from all the other terrible live-action remakes, there's no assumption that this one is going to be any better when they don't even care about the casting of their movie.

From the behind the scenes photos of the sets, to the makeup and wardrobe you brought up. I've many girls complain that she's not even wearing a seashell bra.

I'd rather this and all the other Disney remakes have never even existed rather than Hollywood continue to push this message of "destroying the past to correct the 'mistakes' of it." Everything about this movie is unnecessary and only makes the world a bit more negative to live in. From the woke propaganda, hypocritical "cultural appropriation," and "anti-white" messaging, to the soulless corporate greed involved of even remaking it or Snow White.

Yeah, and now you see why people are upset with this movie. I saw all the script rumors on YouTube channels like Midnight's Edge. It's not just a race swap. They are going full-on, hardcore woke with this movie. It's just that most people can already see it coming cause that's all Disney has been for the past few years now. People didn't care if you changed a character's race before 2015 (like Michael Clarke Duncan playing Kingpin in Daredevil 2003 or Lawrence Fishburne playing Perry White in Man of Steel in 2013), because there wasn't any hidden agendas or anti-white racism attached to it. Okay, I'll just put it this way: The movie's story itself IS going to focus on race (with mermaids as an allegory to "black people/slavery"), cause it's not the same story as the original one; it's a "re-imagining."

As far as everything goes, yeah, it looks like sh*t. And so did everything else in the other live action remakes, like casting Emma Watson of all people, to play Belle (she is neither beautiful, nor intelligent, and can't sing, but that's my opinion) or turning Agrabah into west India because Iran (the real country Agrabah is based on) is considered "too problematic" nowadays. Or having that Uncanny Valley Will Smith genie even my students hated.

The real weird thing is why are mermaids usually portrayed as white? With the odd exception marine mammals are nearly always black. Sure moby dick was white but you couldn't have Ahab chasing a black whale because that would be racist.

1. The original Disney movie didn't have a black girl in it. Ariel was a redhead, so be mad that the original didn't make her black.

2. No one wanted any of these live-action remakes to begin with, but IF they were going to do it, then at least they could've been respectful to the original movies and not pissing all over them in order to be woke.

3. It's not just the race-swapping; it's the anti-white racist message and woke agenda in general, people are fed up with. They made a sh*tty looking remake no one asked for, ruined a beloved character by changing her race for no reason, and then expect people not to be made about pissing on their childhoods. If they did this without an agenda and cast her cause she was the best one who auditioned (and they didn't), people wouldn't be so bothered.

4. If "whitewashing" and "cultural appropriation" of black culture is wrong, then the same applies to Danish culture and anything else. That is, if you're the kind to gatekeep culture (which in itself is stupid). The woke most certainly are, so this makes them out to be massive hypocrites.

5. It's not "giving black people credit" if all you're doing is giving black people hand-me-downs and leftovers from white culture. You'd think even the most militant black person can see how disrespectful that is.
