Do you think children will even pickup on the message presented in the new Little Mermaid or is it more to please “modern” grownups?

I know this one! I teach kids. Korean 8 to 13 year olds. Due to stuff like Netflix and streaming, their parents have shown them all the old Disney moves and stuff from when I was a kid. Many of them say Home Alone is their favorite movie, which surprised the hell out of me, cause that's from when I was a kid!
They've seen the live action remakes. They KINDA like the live action remakes. But none of them resonate with them. It's like the cinema equivalent of fast food. They see it for two hours, then forget about it in another two hours. They don't dislike the live action remakes.
However, the classic movies resonate with them. They REMEMBER them! If I bring up Aladdin or Lion King from the 90s, they'll start singing songs from the animated movie. If I bring up the live action movies, they'll go, "Oh yeah, I saw that!" If I asked "What you'd think about it?," They'll shrug and go "Eh. It was alright." or "It was okay."
That's the difference. As us as adults know, these live-action remakes have NO heart, NO soul, and are nothing more than cheap cash grabs. Kids can't express it in these words, but even THEY know it. Will Smith Genie is an Uncanny Valley, boring abomination compared to the lively and animated cartoon versions which have exaggerated expressions and gestures that kids actually laugh at and remember for years to come.
In short, these live action movies aren't made for anyone but the arrogant writers and woke Hollywood idiots. Parents do take their kids to see them and kids don't hate them. But like I said, these Disney remakes are like fast food to kids, and holds no actual value to them.
And the Marvel Cinematic Universe is starting to become "fast food cinema," as well, ever since the terrible Phase 4 movies.
Kids won't pick up, nor even like the woke changes in the new movie. Also, kids are brutally honest. They'll say the new live action Little Mermaid looks ugly just as much as *I'm* saying she looks extremely ugly. Like something's wrong with her face or she has some kind of muscle deformity or stroke or something. If *I'm* saying that, how brutal do you think ten year old kids are going to be?
You make a great point
Children may be naware of the message at a conscious level, but the message will be imprinted subconsciously. Disney is a powerful social engineering force and it knows what it is doing.
CORRECTION: Children may NOT be aware of the message at a conscious level, but the message will be imprinted subconsciously. Disney is a powerful social engineering force and it knows what it is doing.
Thanks for MHO!

What a crock of evil and irrationality. Man-man/woman-woman do not work in Function, Form or Purpose. It is a Crime against Nature that even the dogs, mules, bees, squirrels, and etc KNOW BETTER. Little kids don’t though and that’s the point with the Monsters of Disney. Their judgment will be fierce snd definite ‼️
To be fair, if anyone thinks a mermaid under the sea, living that kind of life has a "message," then that idiot needs to be sectioned.
It's fucking entertainment. Stop making more of things than is there!
They call Elsa a lesbian, or ship her with Hans. Disney fans are so drunk on the idea of love that they would ship anyone, even the main character with a sociopath.
It's one of many messages that are internalised and acted out when they are adults, either consciously or unconsciously.
All I know is Ariel doesn’t look like the original, who was my favorite Disney princess. My expectations if I ever watch it are going to be extremely low.
@Vendela I saw some of Pinocchio’s remake attempt. These movies just aren’t good anymore.
My niece saw the animated movie when she was 3 years old. I don't think she would understand the live version cause of the race swap.
Why would you expose your children to this woke garbage.
No clue. I don't really know what exactly this is referring to, so I'll hold off on commenting until I actually see the movies. It may be that this is actually a good message to teach them; I don't know.
It depends on the child. But yeah, I certainly wouldn't be letting boys watch it because it seems super-sexist. The media is trying to erase men.
Simples...
Probably to indoctrinate kids.
