How do you feel about Nepo Babies?

It bothers me a bit when they get direct help from their parents, like costarring alongside them. If they were more independent I’d feel better.

Reading the actual list of “Nepo babies” is quite alarming. Didn’t know there were that many.

But I guess if the movie or series looks good I’ll try watching anyway. So ehh…

I think that show business or performing, has a history of being a "Family business" in a way. It isn't even easy to get into that industry unless you know the right people. I worked manual labor jobs for my family members in my life, and If I was related to somebody in the movie business I'm sure I would've tried that as well.

I understand that nepotism isn't fair, but it's also unfair to say that someone can't be an actor because their family member was. So it's just a stalemate of an issue that can't really be resolved.

I only realized recently that Robin from stranger things is Uma Thurmans daughter, I think she's great at acting. Obviously these people have had a leg up and wouldn't be where they are today without their family but I think some of them could have made it if they worked hard.

Billie Eilish is an example of a Nepotism baby that made it without any help from her parents, they seemed to live a pretty average lifestyle in terms of their house and upbringing despite her parents being famous and having connections she rose to fame through SoundCloud.

Out of these people I only know Lily Collins and Zoe Kravitz, but they're both talented and good actresses, so I don't think they deserve to be on the list :/

People tend to go into the business their parents are in, that's not nepotism, it's knowing how (that part of) the system works. Nepotism is more when people hire their children to positions they've not earned.

It kinda depends on the nepo baby. Because they don't choose who their parents are. But there are two types of nepo babies:

• The first one, which doesn't use their parents to make themselves more popular, and they'll actually work if they want something, not ask their parents. I kinda feel bad for the ones that actually want to be actors, models or singers and work hard for it but then people blame it on the ir parents.
• The second one, which I keep seeing, the one that is always doing videos with their parents, or saying "i know i'm going to be like my mom/dad" or "being the daughter/son of __________" and if he wants something will just ask their parents. These I find annoying

If they have genuine talent it's fine. Amber Tamblyn, Angelina Jolie, Liv Tyler come immediately to mind. If they have the talent of Jay North and the only reason is because of mommy and/or daddy, then I just don't watch them.
