I'm pretty good at karaoke. I surprised myself when I found that I can sing lots of genres from Elvis to Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Bobby Darin, to 60s pop songs and country western, to folk, MoTown and Gospel. But I prefer singing rock music like Light My Fire by the Doors, Born to Be Wild by Steppenwolf, Shakin' by Eddy Money, stuff by Cream, Tom Petty, Van Morrison, Thin Lizzy.
My voice is baritone, so I can't sing high pitched songs. But I'm great with timing and adding things like rasp, tremolo and dynamics when it's appropriate.
I've been lead guitarist and vocalist in rock bands.

If I had to pick one song for karaoke, though, it might be When a Man Loves a Woman or Stand by Me.

I did this one live one time with an electric bass player, a expert cellist and someone on the guira. I gave it emotion and sounded like Percy. People were weeping. LOL

I enjoy bringing out the James Brown, doubling over and grimacing, as if in emotional pain on songs like that. It's a kick.

My favourite and default is "My Way" by Frank Sinatra, dropped by 3 semitones. My voice does not allow me to go as high while remaining comfortable.

Christmas? "White Christmas" and "O Holy Night".

Disney? "Hellfire" from the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Other songs I like to sing are "Bubbly" by Colbie Caillat, "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash (covered by Home Free), "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong, and "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis, among others.

Those are the ones that I actually sound good singing.

As for the ones I like to fool around with and sound like a trainwreck, there's "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion, "Try Everything" by Shakira, "Jealous" by Labyrinth (AWESOME SONG by the way), "When I was Your Man" by Bruno Mars, "Into the Unknown" by AURORA and Idina Menzel, among others.
