Do you think writers are lonely people?

I have read a lot about writers being lonely. I love to write, and I prefer spending time writing, rather than being around other people.

I have an extrovert bias but I think the best ones typically aren't, especially if they're trying to write about people. Being a loner is a horrible thing for a writer trying to write relatable characters.

I actually think that's a huge problem with lots of left-wing Hollywood writers these days in terms of lifestyle. I'm not sure if they're loners or not, but I am sure they don't hang out with the opposite side of the political spectrum very much.

No, I don’t think writers are lonely. I’m a writer, and though I’ve stopped writing, I don’t think I was ever lonely when I did write.
