What matters most in Movies?

With all the Hollywood strikes going on and statements being posted by those affected on the "talent" side of things... I couldn't but to think, What's most important to us as the Audience in a movie?

The Acting. Competent, Likable Actors and Actresses.

The Story. If the story is not carefully/lovingly constructed, there's no point.

Represention. The chance to see myself and my lifestyle accurately depicted in a postive light.

Escapism. I'd prefer to shut out reality for an hour or two if possible.

Accurateness. Respecting the original inspiration behind the movie.

Social conditioning. The process of training individuals in a society to respond in a manner generally approved by the society in general and peer groups within society.

Story for the win?

The story/plot, first and foremost. It needs to be engaging. The cast - second. There are some actors that I’m not a fan of but if the story is good, I’ll watch their movie.

In terms of a historical event: accuracy. Presenting the event as it happened and letting the audience decide their own opinions.

Anything else: The worst mistake a movie can make is not to be bad, it's to be boring.

Entertainment. I want a movie to entertain me. If it doesn't entertain me, it fails.
