Do you find Halloween to be overhyped?

The slasher/horror films are mostly not real. You can destroy your teeth if you eat too much of the candy. And as for ghost stories, you have a 2% (or less) chance of encountering an apparition.

I bet many people don't even know what Samhain is (the Ancient Celts' end of summer/harvest season).

I rarely ever get candy. It's literally the only time I get to indulge in it, and I take great care of my teeth. After that, I practically don't have candy until the next Halloween. We only live once.

I've heard ot it, but no, I don't know EXACTLY what that is. Hey, at least I'm honest and not pretending to be a know-it-all like most people on this site.

I love Halloween honestly.

Well just like you think Halloween is overhyped, I think Christmas definitely is. It starts as early as November, already playing Christmas music, Christmas decorations are up, and stores in November has Christmas decorations, Christmas candy, and eggnog out. People are also TOO cheerful for my liking. There's also that one day in November that people go out and trample others for Christmas gifts.

Halloween lasts like a month. Christmas, two to three months. By the the time Christmas comes around, I'm already sick of the music and everything else.

Halloween isn’t celebrated much here, it’s more of an American thing. I can eat lots of candy at any time of the year, and I don’t really dress up.

A little bit yeah. It was cool as a kid, now I think it's kinda stupid. But my co-worker is throwing a Holloween party. I might. I've only trick or treated once in my life with my buddy to one house. It was so funny 'cuz we startled the lady without even knocking or wearing scary masks

Though in these crazy times I'm surprised parents still even send their children trick or treating.

I'm familiar with Samhain. I never would have imagined it would be spelled like thar though 😂

I'm also in that two percent that's encountered apparitions. I personally prefer to not encounter them

I stopped caring about Halloween almost a decade ago. I keep some candy on hand for the ~dozen or so kids that roam the street that night, but that's it.

It's commercialized sure, but for most of my friends, they make their own Hallowe'en rituals.

It is way overhyped in America. The stores make a ton of money and everyone decorates their yards with these big displays. I decorate my front porch but don't spend too much money.

No, Halloween is cool as a kid, as you get to dress up, which is fine. As an adult, I appreciate how nostalgic it is, since I watched those slasher horror films growing up and remember enjoying the decorations people had.

Where I live it's not always celebrated because most of the people I know do not trust strangers to offer them candy that isn't laced with drugs. Maybe 95% of people are safe, but you don't know if 100% of them are clean and safe.

I like it, some of the kids come around to the house, so I tend to spooky things up a bit for them.

It's all in good fun. Not a fan of the slasher/gore films but I like just the scary classics.

I love Halloween - the movies, decorations, and treats are really fun. Although I never really got to celebrate it as a kid since my moms extremely religious and wouldn't let me celebrate
