What’s the closest you’ve been to the stage at a concert?

I went to see Ice Spice and Doja Cat the other night. I had floor seats and it’s the closest I’ve ever been.
I was close and had a good time but I’ve also come to the realization that I’m too damn short to enjoy floor seats as much as I should 💀

I kinda forgot that I’m Oompa Loompa sized so I was on my tip toes struggling to see most of the concert. It was a great show tho. They both sounded really good live, the visuals were great, saw a whole lotta ass. It was fun.

I went to hundreds of concerts in the 70s. Lots of them were "free seating", meaning that there were no chairs on the main floor. People just stood unless they sat in the balcony. My friends and I would get right up against the front of the stage.

At a lot of concerts in the early 70s, even when there were seats on the main floor, as soon as the band started playing, people would leave their seats and "rush the stage". The security guards and even police would flee when the crowd mobbed the stage. I would be right there in front at those times, too.

At Black Sabbath concerts, in particular, Ozzy would always encourage people to rush the stage.

Sometimes, when we had cheep seats in the balcony, we would climb down to the floor and rush the stage.

One time, I even stood on the stage. We went to see Rory Gallagher at the Whiskey a Go Go in Hollywood. The stage was in a corner of the square space. There was a single balcony on one side.

We were sitting in the front row of the balcony. All of a sudden, the band entered through a door at the top of the balcony, came down the steps of the only aisle, and we had to stand to let them pass in front of us. Then went to a tunnel along the wall that was concealed from the rest of the audience.

When the band started playing, I stood and walked down the ramp of the tunnel to stand just inside it at the side of the stage, right next to the band.

In a couple of minutes I felt myself being pushed from behind and realized that people from the balcony had followed me. The pressure from those behind me forced me onto the step and soon onto the stage, just outside the tunnel, right next to the keyboard player. The band gave us some glances but kept playing.

We were rocking out, not going any further onto the stage and not causing any trouble.

All of a sudden, someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned and it was a cub employee. I saw there there was no one else behind me in the tunnel anymore. He said "You know you're not supposed to be here." I apologized and went back to my seat. LOL

I had back stage passes to Deep Purple once. But I had to go back to my seat when the concert started.

I've literally leaned against the stage before. David Bowie, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, and Charlie Daniels come to mind. Probably more.

I almost went to that Who concert in Cincinnati where several people got killed from mob rush. I didn't have tickets and was looking for a scalper. I didn't find one so I didn't go. After that concert they banned open seating - sometimes the policy of the venue, and sometimes state law. At the same time they also banned bottles. Some even banned smoking weed inside, which was just silly.

I've been in that mob rush before. Everyone behind moves just a little forward, then the people being pushed from behind move forward a little. After a while the people in the front are being crushed. It's extremely uncomfortable and there isn't a damn thing you could do about it. In Cincinnati, some people got crushed to death. I could easily see that happening in some of the crowds I've been in.

I went to at least two local theatre performances with live actors in my 20s. At least one or more of the performances had an actor that I went to high school with. It was a nice experience and one of the performances came with a buffet you could eat while watching the show or before the show started. I loved that. The show was pretty good, not rated X or R but still funny and somewhat exploratory on contemporary issues.

It wasn’t a concert, but when in Vegas in July, we went to see the Beatles Love Show (which was awesome by the way) and we were second row from the stage… normally what were $110-130 tickets, we got for $60…

Very far away from the stage on purpose, I was at a concert at a theme park because my family went there and I can't handle loud music at all. I had ear plugs in, a headache because of it but at least there were no speakers behind me. I could have walked way further in the crowd since it wasn't that dense but there was an invisible barrier of sound I could not cross because it would have gone over my pain threshold. Hated the experience, never did it again.

On the stage... people paid to see me. The other times I was just the help. But I've never paid just to watch someone else... the tickets were fucking free when I have gone to those things. But I was drinking their beers in the back more than giving a shit about the show.

The closest I've been is on it, behind the curtains on the side watching the performer who I happened to be sleeping with and her band rock it out. And no, I'm not naming names.

As far as buying tickets, I've had front row to a few and first three rows to maybe a dozen.

I saw Jimmy Buffett at the Music Inn in Lenox, Mass. This was before he was a big star. ThrMusic Inn is a big field and most people sat on the ground on blankets and folding chairs. there were also picnic tables. We sat at one of the tables and i had my feet up on the stage.

I was actually in the front row of a concert I went to when I was five and the people preforming were this band I liked as a kid called The Doodlebops and I wasn't too far away from the stage and two of the band members actually came into the audience and shook my hand and I will never forget that as long as I live
