I do think the 80s are a strong contender but for me it’s the 90s
Probably the 1970s.
Rock and roll and some other genres were entering maturity and there was no "autotune" or personal computers to vastly modify the music. (There were electronics though.)
Artists actually wrote and performed their work since they had actual musical talent. And, because payola was outlawed, the music was genuine.
For instance, this is "Back In The Saddle", the first track from Aerosmith's 1976 album "Rocks". Just pure music created and played by professional musicians who are masters with their instruments and sung by an incredible actual singer.

1970s for sure, although I also have a big soft spot for the 80s.
Bands from the 1970s: Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Rush... you get the idea.
