I’m obviously not from either era (90s kid) but I grew up around the music from my relatives, coworkers, etc. I’m personally more fond of the 70s personally but I do occasionally enjoy 80s from time to time.
So!! 70s or 80s !! Which one!!

Dang…that’s cold to put me in the position to choose😂
80s pop music GOT IT. And rap was more or less birthed in the 80s, or that’s when it caught fire, anyway. It was rudimentary but classic all the same. I have a special place in my heart for hair metal too, lmao.
But the 70s…. incredible classic rock, first of all. Half a century later and that shit still goes hard, that really says something. I don’t really fuck with country music much, but if there’s any I do occasionally fuck with, it’s from this era, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, etc. And the big thing for me was the soul/R&B scene…oh my GOD😱 Old school players in suits and tuxedos and shit, just harmonizing…. that’s what’s missing in 2022, haha.
I’m gonna give the nod to the 70s, but ‘nuff respect to the 80s, strong competition💪
I Love both decades and the 70s had great classic hits but the 80s took it to the Next level with more hits that even the new generations knows nowadays. The 70s set the components by a lot great artists but the 80s music affect the whole world with memorable hit that are played today and more remakes are made from the 80s. Hip Hop grew more in the 80s then the 70s (after Sugar Hill Gang 1979 Rappers Delight song open the door), R&B and Rap started in the 80s with Bobby Brown, Full Force, New Edition, and more: Michael Jackson became the King of Pop after his Thriller 1982 and Bad 1987 albums plus he incorporated Rock, Soul, Funk, and Hip hop: Legends like Madonna, Whitney Houston, Prince (Best Album Purple Rain 1984), Lionel Richie, Phil Collins, Kiss, Marvin Gaye (Sexual Healing 1982), EL Debarge, Freddie Jackson, and more artist hits are played more today and a lot of their songs were remade with new artists plus open the doors for other artists like Chris Brown, Weeknd, Bruno Mars, Brittney Spears, Nsync, Backstreet Boys, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and more.
So sexy that you even know about this shit! So few do and it pisses me off cause I’m a 90s baby and even i know my stuff. 70s was that grown sexy soul and disco! Loved it. 80s was good too but more rockpopish
Lol i play a new genre of music every few hours daily while working haha. But i also own a lot of cds so i have a lot of 70s stuff. My grandparents played a lot around me growing up
My parents especially my dad played that every Saturday morning. I grew up loving Marvin Gaye, Al green, Curtis mayfield and especially Al green. I can’t help singing loudly when Marvin Gaye and Al green comes on 😂
I have all their cds lol. I have so many i’ll have to name em for you next time im home to look at my collection. But some of my faves is def Stevie Wonder and Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes (Teddy Pendergrass)
I enjoy music ranging from classical all the way to modern times. The 60s, 70s, and 80s all have bangers for sure though.
My summer song 😂

What's Your Opinion? Sign Up Now!`80's! No question about it! I would say, the very early `70's before disco reared its ugly head and the VERY late `70's up to the mid `80's before rap showed its even uglier head. Hair metal was a wasteland, too. The new wave era was practically the psych era of the `60's all over again! The most creative music ever made!!
Sure, the prog stuff and album rock stuff from the `70's was great but, disco took over and ruined nearly EVERYTHING! Once The Beatles died and everybody went back to folk and country and started doing simple rock, nearly everything stunk! `72, MAYBE `73, would be my cut-off point for pop.
I agree with Bobcat Goldthwait that, "the `70's was the lowest cultural point in the history of the planet!!"
As for which one of those two I listen to most, probably `80's but, I never generalized and stuck with just one era. I've got over 60,000 records that span the past 120-some years and I can listen to pretty much any of it at any given time. I'm mostly into the psych era and early `60's but, I get the urge to whip out a few stacks of 78's and listen to big band or Texas swing.
I guess I kinda stopped gettin' into new stuff about 8 or 10 years ago because, other than the bands from back in those days (`60's to the `00's) that are still doing it, there's really nothing WORTH listening to, anymore!! I also just don't have the room for more.
'70's.. most rappers sampled beats from '70's funk. Some '80's like Cameo and of course Zapp & Roger, but Quincy Jones and George Clinton/Parliament/Funkadelics are the best! I could tell u more.. O'Jay's, Ohio Player's, Gap Band, Kool and the Gang, Chaka Khan.. let's listen to sum REAL music right the fuck now!
The 70s. Or at least the first half or so of the 70s. The last few years seriously went downhill, but the first several years more than made up for it.
The 80s were the worst decade for music over the last hundred years. There was a slight increase over the late 70s, but overall it was pretty bad with not many really good songs in the mix.
The key to the music you like will most likely be a combination of your parents and what was being played in your teens. Think about it! Certainly, there were BIG evolutions in music, such as the roaring 20s the 40s and Elvis and rock n roll. Music is like ice cream no answer is wrong and there is a flavor for everyone's taste!
80s hands down, you're lying if you say anything else.
80s literally had the greatest rock bands pop off. Not to mention Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie and the King of Pop, Thriller is the greatest selling album of all time, the 80s are too iconic for it to not be the answer.
70s & 80s in my opinion is the greatest 20 years of music ever, but if I have to pick one, its the 80s. The 60s walked, 70s rans so the 80s could fly.
Well I was born in the 1960s the 1970s was fun time for music
It was filled with poets, song writers, and folk stories put to music in the early 1970s. By the mid 70s a new type of music came and it took the 70s like a Storm. Disco came and went almost as fast as it came in
I think disco might have killed that kind of music early, but it opened the door for 1980s music like the Pet Shop Boys, Talking Heads, Eddie Grant, Robert Palmer and many more
Honestly would have to give it to the 80s. Had a lot of hair metal and bands I grew up listening to while outside with my dad.
70s had some good shit like Foghat, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith and what not, but 80s would be my say.
I always prefer the 70s grooves. 80s music sounds more upbeat and cheesy which im not a fan of. Tho, 80s have pretty neat synthesizers that works really well with 70s style music.
This is what i meant by 70s style music with 80s instruments https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DU4DP4XOsGw
70s music is also really adaptable. It can be fused with other decade's vibes. This one is fused with 80s instruments and 90s beats and effects. It aged really well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsJ9xqXANoM&t=16s
And this one is just pure 70s vibe in 2020 https://youtu.be/adLGHcj_fmA that soul genre aged like wine!
I hated disco so much I used to put my clock radio on the opposite end of my bed Rand set it to a disco station. I knew I’d jump out of bed and run across the room to turn that crap off.
Today, I’d probably set it to play rap noise.
I vote "80's"... Music was a bit more evolved and newer innovations implemented. But I like the 70's also.
They're both great decades, but since I was a teenager in the 70s, I'm partial to the 70s. That was the decade when Pink Floyd did their best music.
the 70s. It's not even close. The Beatles were still a thing, CSN&Y, Seals and Croft, Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon, James Taylor, CCR, and Springsteen. Too many to list really.
Both eras were great but I'm a classic rock type of guy. I like a lot of different genre of music like pop, rock, freestyle, r&b, heavy metal
I voted 80's, but when I think back and recall some the music I liked... yikes...😳
In terms of the music created, clearly the 70's. But on the other hand in the 80's you had the music of the 70's AND the music of the 80's. So...
There's just something special about the 80's that hits deep in my soul.
I like a lot of the music from both decades, and from the 1990s as well. In fact, there's music from all decades that I enjoy.
Mainstream music always had been bullshit to me. 70's - 80's - and now as well.
Looking at the rock scene, I'd say that the 70's had more drive and innovation.
Disco was a crime against humanity like rompers or puns
Two decades of the best music: 1965-75, 1985-95. Obvi with a few exceptions.
