I think I am better at checkers than I am at chess. But I always prefer a game of chess to a game of checkers.

Yeah, I was pretty good. One of my favorite memories growing up was "Family game night" it was usually Wednesdays, but if dad was out of town, and we knew he'd be home the next day, we'd do it on Thursday. If we knew he was leaving on Wednesday, we'd do it on Tuesday night. Checkers was always fun, but w/ an odd number of family members, it meant someone was always left out, so we didn’t play it THAT much.
