Why are people so willing to accept the infantilization and simplification of popular culture?

To me, popular culture has lost its way. This used to be relegated to 10-year-olds, which still to me is undeserving children's minds, showing little faith in their capacity. Now masses of grown-ups love it! The last Swift album has 23 songs on it and ALL could be played by a 5-year-old who has a basic knowledge of music. What is even worse, some songs had as many as 6 writers.

The danger is when hoards of these celebrities get together and do some political shit.

I love Robert Downey Jr's movies. Not just the Marvel stuff, I think he's a genuinely talented actor. Same goes for Scarlett Johansson and the rest of the "Avengers" cast - but their opinion about why voting for Biden is a good idea lacks weight. When the reason is "He's better than the other guy" then the system is beyond broken. It's been ass-fucked by a sex crazed rhinoceros.

And the public have bought into it hook, line and sinker. And rod, tackle bag, stool and angler's waders.

It's unfortunate that in the last 1900 years since he wrote his "Meditations" that people have lost the art of THINKING independent of what the establishment pontificates and the result is the idea of "nobody left behind" - a noble motto on the battlefield and a disaster for any nation that employs it in it's education system.

Why are people prepared to accept infantilisation? Because no child was left behind - so the young "adults" are just too uneducated to realise what they've been handed.

Biden's policies are reducing the world to ashes for him to rule over. Trump's are no better. Both want your vote because it's "better than the other guy" - which is the WORST reason to vote for someone. Just ask the UK in 6 months - Labour are now in power, not because they are able to raise the country (history shows the UK are usually worse off after a Labour government), but because they were a more palatable way to be fucked in the ass than four more years of Sunak. Apparently.

My dad called it "microwave culture." Most people in modern society have very short attention spans, thus the "microwave" idea, and do not have the patience to read a good book or listen intently to a lengthy symphony or enjoy a track like "A Tab in the Ocean" or "Remember the Future" or even the relatively shorter pieces like "Yours Is No Disgrace." They genuinely prefer 3 minutes of repetitive drivel to something that makes them think because they are too lazy to put in the effort.

I'm not a fan of her music, her earlier stuff was OK but now it all just sounds the same. But plenty of people like her and they're l not hurting anyone so let them have their fun, it's no different to girls screaming after the beetles in the 60s, they'll grow out of it.

It most people knew what their favorite celebrities think of them. They would never look up to them again. The ones who aren’t bad people are just human beings at the end of the day.

It’s fine to admire someone but sone people are to worship level of how they treat their favorite celeb. And a lot of it is very low IQ.

These songs usually are easier to understand I think very simple. Also many people like to just turn off their brain and escape from the daily stress in life. Kind of like watching a stupid movie. The problem is they don't realize how much brain cells they're loosing.

Because no one wants to ever, ever, ever be called a "loser" even if it's just a game. You don't come in last anymore instead you come in 17th place. Teachers- even at Uni. can no longer grade according to the knowledge of the subject. If they give little Timmy a "D" it will warp him for life so instead we celebrate mediocrity

The standards are getting lower, people are focusing more on emotion as opposed to intellect, and an education that focuses on teaching you what to think instead of how to think has been in play for multiple generations now. With such a loss of intellect and critical thinking it's no wonder we are all becoming infantilized. After all, it makes us much more easy to control
