Why are people so desensitized lately?

A man in Olive Garden jumped in a fryer being burned badly. It happened in Pennsylvania. And many customers were asking for to go items to put their food in, as they were being evacuated. They gave more importance to food than evacuating due to a man being injured.

Have you seen the state of the world? And the access that we have to it all on the internet? It’s no wonder that people are desensitised - most people are seeing videos of war, assault, and records of horrendous crimes. Within this past year alone I have seen videos of parents carrying their children’s headless bodies in war stricken zones, people who’ve been crushed to death by tanks, ICE brutalising victims, and now we have the Epstein files rearing its head and informing us that the world is run by cannibalistic ‘pdf files’.


If you’d simply stop and look around at everything going on, it is clear why people are desensitised. We have no choice but to be, as it’s all too overwhelming and our nervous systems have been screwed. We were never made to know what’s going on in the world at all times.

A lot of it comes from **constant exposure**.

We’re bombarded with news, social media, and drama all the time, so intense emotions or shocking events start to feel normal. Over time, the brain adapts by tuning things out to protect itself, which can come across as desensitization.

Its called apathy. Nobody cares anymore. You saw that whole thing with that Ukrainian woman that got stabbed, people got up and walked away still looking at their phones, another occasion a person got set on fire on the NYC subway, people just videoed it with their smart phones rather than help, im sure it made good fbook content. Thats the new with soceity if you get into trouble and need help 50 people will video it and post it on social media rather than help you.

Yes. But at the recent Sydney mass-shooting that saw two gunmen kill 15 Jewish Australians at a Hannukah, a Syrian immigrant tackled one of the gunmen and seized his weapon, taking multiple gunshot wounds to the shoulder in the process. The man was not Jewish and was not a target. He was not protecting his own life. He acted merely in the aid of others he did not know. Humanity still exists, even if you scratch hard enough to find it.

@MrChinaski yes he took the gun off the one of the shooters, pointed the weapon at the gunman, didn't pull the trigger then propped up against a tree for the gunman to retrieve and continue shooting people and got shot running away. The media largely ignored the others such as the russian couple who spotted an ISLAMIC state flag on a car and seized his gun only for the guy to get another rifle out of his car and shoot them both.
There were also israli Gefen Bitton who ran back to help the Syrian muslim as he confronted the gunman only to get shoot when the gunman retrieved his weapon.
There was also Russian Reuven Morrison who charged the gunman throwing bricks forcing him to retreat only to get shot.
There is barely any mention of the brave Russians or Israeli for some reason by the liberal media just the Syrian muslim.
