You'd be surprised by who were considered great beauties in the past. They would be seen as mid or below average today (search la belle otero or princess qajar of persia - supposedly men even killed themselves over them).

She was probably seen as very attractive in Popeye's world, remember that Popeye debuted almost 100 years ago.

I've been thinking about Olive Oyl lately, no kiddin'.

Somebody here asked a question recently about who had crushes on cartoon characters when we were youngsters.

Although I quickly came up with some babes (Ann Margrock on The Flintstones was my all-time winner, Va Va Va Voom!!!), guess who the first cartoon chick was who came to my mind?

That's right.
Olive Oyl.

Why, I have no idea, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
