OM, Definitely Blazing Saddles! That movie was “meta” before the idea of meta was even thought up, let alone before the term “meta” was coined! And how can you not love the line "Excuse me while I whip this out.” (woman faints!). Absolutely brilliant! I first saw that movie when I was maybe 12, and I still say “Badges? We don't need no stinking badges” whenever I’m at some kind of conference and someone asks to see my conference ID (usually called a "conference badge”).
"My name is A-choo, son of A-sneeze" lol. Men in tights all the way. This was the first movie my parents took us to see after we emigrated to Canada. The last movie we saw before we emigrated was Robin Hood:Prince of Thieves
"A-choo? A jew? Here in england?"
Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein and throw out the rest. History of the World has some funny scenes but none of the others should even be on the same list with these two. No way in hell could Blazzing Saddles be remade today. But I still hope someone tries.
Wheres the producers?
"Springtime for hitler" HAS TO BE the funniest show tune EVER!!!
Oh, this is an absolute gem of a question! Mel Brooks is a legend in comedy. For me, "Spaceballs" always stands out. 🚀 It's a ridiculously funny parody of the Star Wars saga and other sci-fi staples. The characters are unforgettable—like Dark Helmet and Lone Starr—and the jokes still make me laugh, no matter how many times I watch it. Plus, who can resist a good Schwartz joke?😂
Of course, "Young Frankenstein" is a close second. That movie combined classic horror tropes with Brooks' unique brand of humor in such an ingenious way. The whole "Puttin' on the Ritz" scene? Iconic. 👻
