Why are the veteran R&B singers watering their version of "R&B?"

The Isley Brothers released one of their worst albums in their entire discography with "Make Me Say It Again, Girl," with the exception of two songs sounding decent enough, including the title of the album and "Great Escape." What was the reason?

Babyface released the worst album ever with "Girls Night Out" and had the guts to compare it to the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack. Absolutely speechless! The album was pure garbage. Why did Babyface come out with this?

Usher and Tamar Braxton are returning to the music scene forever and releasing the worst songs of the year with "Glu" and "Changed."

WHY?

These artists have proven to deliver quality R&B music prior to this; why are they dubbing their music now?

I LOVED The Isley Brothers in my youth, but they (at least the survivors) are octagenarians, so it's understandable if their music isn't up to their 60's and 70's standards. The others, well, I'm not into them, so I can't intelligently comment on their sound.
