What is your favorite horror sub-genre and why?

I don't know if any of you have played the newly released Still Wakes the Deep game, but it was one of the best body horror games I have experienced recently.

Mary Shelly's Frankenstein is pure gold, because the real horror is the evil of human beings in normal situations, and Frankenstein's Monster is less evil than Frankenstein himself, in my opinion, because trying to "play God" is always going to end wrong.

The kind where most of it is not horror and they warn you when a horror scene is about to happen so you can go to another room or cover your eyes while it happens, is that a sub-genre, if not it should be!

I love the cheap and sleazy spatter films made from the 1960s to the mid 80s. That kind of filmmaking kind of died out after that.

Alien is one of my favorite movies. Some people call it cosmic horror. I think it’s more of a monster horror, in space. Cosmic horror is more like Event Horizon.
